Since you have been diagnosed as clinically depressed hopefully you are on your way to becoming well. You may feel you have missed out on the peak of your life but maybe this is how your life was meant to unfold and this is really the beginning. As the saying goes, Age is just a number. (or was that a song? :)) Anyway, you could live forty or more years. This could be the beginning of your peak. It may not feel like that to you, when you feel depressed it is difficult to look at the bright side but through your journey, hopefully, you will emerge from out of your depression and see things have just begun. Good luck!

You don't really state your question. You apparently have a self sustaining business and your health. You're only 47 and statistically have many years of productive life in front of you. What's keeping you from doing exactly what you want to do? Pursue an interest you've always put off or find a way to give back to the community. Start doing the things you think you've missed out on!

The 10 years you feel were missed out are in the past. Your "peak life" can be anytime you want. Start living now! My nana had a horrible abusive, alcoholic marriage. She got divorced when she was 57. She had never been anywhere or done anything in her life. She is 77. In the past 20 years, she has traveled all over the place. She lives on her own and enjoys her life. Make the changes you need to make and start enjoying your life! It's never too late.

I hope the depression treatment is working.

Don't fuss about "lost years" - all years are valuable, even when they are "struggling" years.

Life begins at 40, so really, you're only 7 years old!

My mom started bicycling at 47. When she was in her mid-sixties, she bicycled *around* Lake Michigan, took a 1600 mile bike trip in the Rockies, and other such feats. She's in better shape than I'm in.

47 is NOT too old to "start" your life!!!

Hey, at least you have a self sustaining business. NOw you can just realax. Consider that your 10 adult working years were not wasted getting drunk and partying like most people who will have no way to retire. Just say, "Im doing better than most, and F the Epicurians"

First of all, follow through with that depression diagnosis and get treatment for it. That will answer the unhappiness behind the question.

As to the question itself, your business is stable, and you're only 47. I'm 47 myself, and I can tell you, things can get better from here out if you get that depression under control.

but you are only 47 - you are still young. Start living today. Don´t look back - your future is ahead of you and you gonna be fine. I know how it feels, I was very sick and depressed too.
But thinking about the time lost, makes you even more depressed. It´s hard, but start today. Change your life, enjoy it, do nice things for yourself. Good luck.

Get off the damn internet and start living. Go down to a park and smell the flowers and talk a walk outside. Start a new hobby. Start exercising too. It helps with depression.

I know how you feel . best thing is to forget about time that you were down . make the most of each day you have left . And may they be long and great . looking and thinking back will just bring you down . smile about today and tomorrow , forget about the past.
