Was Jesus a self-fulfilled prophecy in a way?
So did he grow up knowing he was God just from stories his mom and 'step-dad'(,adopted dad--not-necessarily-biological dad?) told him?

You DO realize Jesus was a fictional character, right? If you want to know more about this character, read that great work of fiction titled "The Bible," specifically, the New Testament, if you want to read up on the Son of God.

In any case, common sense would dictate that Jesus knew he was who he was supposed to be. After all, the Prodigal Son did things like the exorcism of demons out of people and curing diseases, so it's safe to assume he had the "power" to figure out how he was conceived and who he was, even at the ripe age of 2-years-old.

In any case, the whole story of Jesus is so contradictory, it wouldn't surprise me if he DIDN'T know the answers to his own existence while growing up!

Ever think about the fact that he would be communicating with the Father.

I would assume that His physical parents raised Him in a good Hebrew home, teaching Him the scriptures and going to synagogue.

He grew up knowing and learning God's will, as was appropriate for His age.

Uh, he was 12 when He talked to the Rabbi's.

Well, at the age of 7 he was having discussion with the priests in the temple and they marveled at his knowledge. Not even his parents knew the things which he discussed. So I believe that it is safe to say that at an average age of a child's awareness He knew who he was even with the little that His parents knew and shared with Him.
He probably told his mother quite a bit about Himself so that she would realize who He truly was.

Yeah, as a child they sat him down and told him that his mother had an adulterous affair and that Joseph isn't his dad.
