The problem is that many of the words seem to require rolling your Tongue. Ok, i am useless at this. Is there any way of learning how to do this. Will i be understood if i don't roll my tongue or just sound stupid?

The words sound strange if you don't roll your tongue, but the Italians will understand what you are saying! It comes with practice. Fold your tongue backwards against the soft palate and use the air coming our of your throat to make it vibrate.

Difficult to explain, but just keep trying!
