Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that will make for greater purity for them. And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, etc. (24:30-31)

Because about 1100 years ago an arab who could not find employment, and had difficulty living in society decided a new religion might be the quick way out. So he adopted christian and judaism's principles, and many of their proverbs and formed a new religion to create a new world as he would like it.
His first steps were to create a reason (hitler also hit on this idea and came upo with hating jews as a reason for world conquest).
Mohamand's principle excuse for his new religion was dominance over women and it continues today. He declared that all women should and must be covered from head to toe with only room for the eyes,and that she was effectly the property of her husband, and had no right and not as much freedom as the goats feeding on the hill side.
Women under islam have suffered over 1000 years because of one man's haterd for them.and his reason for a cause.

Look, the only way I can explain it to you is this;
A woman-all women are like jewels(beauty), like if you buy a really expensive beautiful, jewel will you show it to everybody in the whole world?
When you keep showing it's beauty it will lose it's value.
But a jewel is worth more when the only one who gets to see it is it's owner it has more value when you keep it and do not reveal it's beauty to everyone.
But it not needed for women in Islam to cover their faces.The ones who do are probably wearing it because of their tradition like Saudi Arabia and Syria and Afghanistan women in these countries wear there veil over their faces.
In Islam women have to cover everything but the hands(arm is covered)and face...

It is also the law in some muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia for ALL women to wear a kimar (headscarf), and to dress modestly. It is very disrespectful for even non-muslim women not to do this, and if they did they could get in trouble with the police.

It is because they are being "modest". They feel only their husband should be able to see their hair and sometimes their face. To show it to others openly would be like wearing a thong and pasties on the beach to an American. I'm sure it is in the Quaran as well.

the main reason is because the GOD order them to do that in the quran & when our lord tell us to do something we just OBEY.... but also the GOD tell us why he ask them to do that it is in this verse from quran :
33:59 O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.
so when the muslim woman dress like that she simply give a message to all the men in the street that she religious woman & not easy woman & not looking for any kind of fun with men other than her husband ,but if she wear short or stretch clothes she give another clear message '' catch me if u can !! lol " & men will deal with her as easy woman, also the GOD order the men the same thing :

To cover their beards, the men are so jealous of them they make women cover up. I will not even bring up that their women have more hair on their legs than men do.

actually, if most muslims in the mid-east actually read the teachings of the Prophet, they'd know that they arent supposed to cover their faces. nor do they have to wear the full burkha. they just have to dress modestly.
