they are wherever they choose to be. we have free will when we die too. the possibilities are ENDLESS, not just two as many christians like to believe. when all the christians die the essences of the rest of us will be there to show them that they had it all wrong and they'll realize that they wasted their lives trying to depress everyone with their tales about sin and having only one life to experience and the belief in a place called hell. many will CHOOSE to reincarnate and do God's REAL work, which is to wake up the brainwashed so everyone can their lives guilt free and not teach our children lies such as God is going to punish them.
and BibleHelp we do have an immortal soul you liar.

Good question.
When Jesus went to the grave he went to Hell, where, at that time all of the souls of expired persons abode, pre-Resurrection. He gave everyone opportunity to accept him at that time. (Free will). Those who did were released from Hell and those who didn't went back to sleep. This is the sleep before the resurrection of the dead.
Where the dead in Christ went I'm not sure. This is my current study. But the dead without Christ are in the grave, the grave is Hell, Sheol and also known as Hades. There is no conscienceless in the grave. They await the final judgment just as the dead in Christ do.
Sorry I don't have all the answers but I do have some and searching for the rest. It's a lifetime of research.
According to the Bible there is only one way to the Father and that is through the Son. Not through baptized for the dead or any kock-a-mamie garbage like that. Besides, teaching any other way than the true way is blasphemous.
Hope this helped a little.

Hello friend,
Great question!
The Cross is the central focal point in all of history.
It's all about Grace friend. Everyone prior to the birth of Christ obviously would never have heard of the Man. But God has never left Himself without a witness. You've asked an excellent question that is worth a couple hours worth of Bible study, but we can't accomplish that here.
Please read Eccl.3:17 God has placed Eternity in the heart of man. Next take a look at Psalms 19, read the whole thing it'll do you good. Next, carefully read Romans chapters 1-3. There you'll see the light of creation, the light of conscience, and the light of Christ.
I know that is alot, but well worth your time to get the answer to your question.
To simplify, believers in God Almighty before Jesus came, looked forward to the Cross, we, however look back to the Cross.
Take a look at Hebrews chapter 11. Very important source for you to read.
Blessings,
2 Tim. 2:7

To be a good apologist you mustn't basically reference a scripture yet show how scriptures that are opposite on your view do in fact assist you. in any different case all which you have claimed is that the bible is contradictory and you have picked your well-liked verse to have confidence and discarded others. Heaven forbid the Bible contradict itself. Pray clarify what became meant in Jeremiah and job. And while you're at it upload Matthew to the checklist. Why might the apostles ask Jesus who sinned to reason the blind guy to be born blind, the guy or his mothers and fathers, if the guy did no longer have a pre-existance before his start wherein to sin? and that i visit demonstrate how 1st Corinthians helps the Mormon view. back as much as verse 40 4 the place Paul says "there's a organic physique, and there's a spiritual physique." Adam had a spirit that already existed and God created a physique from the airborne dirt and mud of the earth and as you have quoted they have been blended jointly to variety a residing soul. This interpretation is consistent with the two Paul and Jeremiah, and job, and Matthew. Christ in the time of his life on countless activities claimed the call "i'm", he claimed the call on an identical time as speaking to the female on the properly, he claimed it interior the temple and the Pharisees tried to stone him instantaneous, he claimed variations of it in front of the Sanhedrin and Pontius Pilate, in fact this became the cost he became crucified for. this is the comparable call that Jehovah gave Moses on mount Sinai. If Jesus became no longer that comparable Jehovah that spoke to Moses he became justly condemned as a Blasphemer. Christianity (exceedingly Mormonism) does not have confidence Christ became justly executed. He became rejected via his very own human beings and placed to death for the crime of being precisely who he suggested he became. this is examined that Jesus had a pre-life before he became born and laid in a manger and that's sound Christian doctrine and that to have confidence that there is not any pre-life is to area with people who Crucified Christ. as quickly as upon a time translating the bible into English became seen heresy and Tyndale became burned for it. as long as you study it in English be careful who you call is a heretic considering you and me are interior the comparable boat.

Faithful individuals of old times, in years prior to the presence on earth of Jesus Christ, are simply in their graves, awaiting to be resurrected to life back on this earth as a reward for their faithfulness. There's no such thing as "purgatory" so that's not an option. Of course, they're not literally "waiting" in the grave, since those who die are not conscious of anything and what remains of their bodies breaks down and decays. So in other words, they're kept alive in God's memory, soon to be resurrected back to physical life on earth in God's due time.
Mojo is wrong. When we die, we do not have free will, nor do we have anything. According to the Bible, when we die, we are conscious of nothing and our thoughts perish. To have free will, a person would have to be conscious of having it in order to use it. The bible says otherwise to what Mojo was claiming. Also, people DO NOT have an immortal soul. When God created Adam, it says in Genesis 2 that Adam BECAME a soul, not that he was given one.

From a christian part of view I kinda want to say hell. But for some reason deep inside I don't agree with that. I think the Native Americans who worshiped the earth, and understood the balance of the world and the people, so I hope they're in a paridise somewhere.

You forget before Christianity there was Judiasm (the Jewish faith) there were also the pagan religions. It says in the bible "I will welcome all into the kindom of heaven. Even those who do not know of me will be welcome to my gates".
By the way Pope John Paul II had announce during his tenure that there was no purgatory or limbo. There was only a heaven and hell. So the Catholic faith that is the "origianal" christianity has erased them from existance. (like they existed in the first place).
Spiritual salvation doesn't have a religious tag on it. Rather it is judged by what type of person you were in life.

If you're talking about righteous people before Jesus came to the world, then they all went to Hades, which is not hell, but it functions as hell's "waiting room". They couldn't enter Paradise because it was closed (remember Genesis?). When Jesus died on the cross, He first decended into Hades to free all the souls of those who were captive, yet eligible to enter Paradise. Then He rose from the dead on the third day.

You have asked:
"The people who lived pre-christianity, where are they spiritually?"
Serious Answer:
A LOT of them are in the same place as most everyone else that has died all along ... Jehovah's memory, to be resurrected under His Kingdom government & given a chance to show what their educated choice will be, by living the life-course of their own personal choices. This is what is meant by 'judgement' of those that are resurrected. (Not that they will be judged according to past deeds.)
Chapters 6 & 7:
"Where Are the Dead" &
"Real Hope for Your Loved Ones Who Have Died"
--along with articles in its' index--:
" 'Soul and Spirit'--What Do These Terms Really Mean?"
"What Are Sheol and Hades?"
"Judgement Day -- What Is It?"
in the book:
"WHAT Does the Bible REALLY Teach?" (pub 2005)
http://www.watchtower.org/publications/publications_available.htm
provide these & more excellent Bible-based answers to the spiritual aspect of your question/s. We are presently studying this relatively new publication, & recently discussed these very chapters, so I'm still very familiar with them.
Some of the Scriptures that any accurate answer to your questions will be based on are:
Ecclesiastes 9:5,6
"For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, ... their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore ..."
Ecclesiastes 9:10
"All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol, the place to which you are going".
Hebrews 9:27,28
"As it is reserved for men to die once for all time, but after this a judgement, so also the Christ was offered once for all time to bear the sins of many; and the second time that he appears it will be apart from sin and to those earnestly looking for him for their salvation."
Acts 24:15 "There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."
Revelation 20:13 "The Sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Hades gave up those dead in them."
John 5:28,29
"All those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement."
The Spiritual Awakening of Living people can be likened to their Resurrection. What each individual chooses to do After Learning what is required of them, that is what they will be judged on. People will Always possess the Free Will that God originally bestowed on mankind in the Garden of Eden. The earth itself will be brought back into paradisaic conditions. All faithful humans will be able to choose life eternal in that Splendid Paradise, or willful disobedience with 'second death' as the consequence ... (no hope of a resurrection). (See Revelation 20:14, & 21:8)
These latter ones will cease to exist even in God's memory.
Any who choose a wilful course after that, will likely be dealt with similar to Ananias & Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11). The paradise will be kept 'swept clean' of such thinking & behavior, which is against everyone's best interests. There is No true benefit in trying to do things independantly of God. There is actually Much More true freedom & happiness in the Doing of Jehovah's will!

People who lived before Jesus was born were taught by Prophets that he would come some day...
John was baptizing people before Jesus showed up and was baptized himself...
and.. Yes... we do baptize people in proxy for those who did not have the opportunity to get baptized before they died (we don't actually check to see if they had the chance... and just baptize ALL)... those who are baptized in proxy will have the opportunity to either accept the baptism.. or reject it... they have free will to choose...
People who have not accepted Jesus as their savior are in spirit prison... those who have... are waiting for judgement day in a peaceful place.
