Purgatory is a Roman concept found in the the catechism of the Roman church, not canonical Scripture.

"The Church formulated her doctrine of faith on Purgatory especially at the Councils of Florence and Trent." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, Pg. 268-269, #1031)

Now that is a good question!

From Genesis to Revelation there is no mention of purgatory.

There are so many things that people and unfortunately some churches, say that are in the Bible, which aren't there.

I invite you or challenge you to read a Bible - like The Daily Walk Bible - from cover-to-cover for yourself and see. I am quite sure that you will find it to be the best thing you've ever done.

God (the uncreated Creator of the universe) makes the wonderful promise to us - If you seek me with all of your heart you will find Me.

God bless your search!

It is not mentioned at all. It's a Catholic thing and I have no idea where they got the idea from.
