My litter box is in the bath tub. And it is the second time it has happened. The urine is on the side of the tub running down the drain next to the box. The box isn't wet or sprayed. The box isn't full either. I clean it every morning. Is he marking his territory or can it be a medical problem? Or maybe the box is too small for him? This is a stray cat I took in a week ago. Have not taken him to the vet yet, but I will on the 5th.

Some of my cats of either sex pee standing up and it seeps through the seams of the litter boxes or over the boxes completely. I've been using Plastic Storage boxes such as Rubber Maid or Sterlite and haven's had problems since. I use the 50Qt or 66Qt sized ones, they are high enough to prevent urine from going over. Good luck.

He may not like the bath tub. Put the litter pan on floor and make sure it is big enough and always keep it clean. Good luck with your new friend and God bless you for taking him in.
PS Don't forget to get him neutered.

Since the bathtub itself is an enclosed area, he may have somehow gotten the idea that the whole tub is his litterbox. I wouldn't think he's marking as long as it's still in the tub.
