All of the Semitic peoples -- the Hebrews, the Arabs and the Persians -- are Abraham's seed. The Jews trace their lineage from Isaac while the rest trace theirs from Ishmael. According to the Jews their line is the legitimate one because Isaac was the child of Abraham's wife. According to Muslims the other line is the legitimate one because Ishmael was the older brother.

Israel (Jacob) and Ishmael were both children of Abraham.
Only Jacob was the chld of promise. Ismael is called an illegitimate child.
