Depends on where the main theater of operations would be. If it were a U.S. invasion in Russia, the U.S. would be toast, because that is some of the most unforgiving terrain on the planet. If it were a Russian invasion of the U.S., the U.S. would throw everything they had at them -- might lose Alaska to nuclear flattening, but would ultimately win.

Of course, in an all-out nuclear war, the only winners would be China, South Africa, Australia, and Brazil.

I think Russia will win. Although everyone says USA is the most super power of the world, it is that USA doesn't have military power of Russia. To be more specific, Russia has more weopons than USA, Russia has more infanty or any kind of soldiers than USA, Russia is a big country. Russia may be a little weak in economy but it is a country that if the whole african countries fight it, russia will win easily. Russia is not an easy country. If US and Russia fights, I am sure it shall be a very, very long war. But maybe at last, Russia will win, and if US wins, it is only going to be lucky!
But I am sure if these 2 countries fight, WW3 will be there and the whole world will be exchanging Nuclear bombs, missiles, bullets etc. and the earth is history!

Lemme see, in the first 30 minutes of a nuclear exchange, 1 billion people would be vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion would die from radioactive poisoning. The northern hemisphere would be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter would reach the southern hemisphere, wiping out all vegetation. Soon after would follow all animal life. Those surviving in underground shelters would run out of water and food within 3-6 months, depending on their hoardes. So, you ask who would win in an all out total war between the two strategic super powers?

The answer is......in a nuclear war.....the only true enemy is war itself....ie....no winner.

There would be no winners. Nuclear radiation knows no boundaries. What would be the real point in it anyway. Just to see which of the old geezers who sit behind over-priced mahogany desks at some war center in each country can say "we have the best military ever and our toys are just the greatest, look at what we can do." Then they will thumb their noses at each other and it will still be business as usual.

There would be no winner....world will be destroyed as many other countries will be involve..... However, if we take the nuc-bomb out of this picture; I believe that Russia has a good chance to win since they are tougher than American soldiers.

I would think America because it has money unlike Russia and sometimes they cant even use military machines(tanks, choppers etc)for a while because they cant afford the fuel but if they were a superpower again i think it would be a lot tougher for the states.

No one. I doubt that the human race would survive an all-out war between those two nations. They both have enough nukes to irradiate the entire planet. No one could survive the chemical, biological and radiological contamination.

Given that no nuclear weapons would be used. I think the US could possibly win. I think Russia would collapse because it has no money to spend on its military.

the U.S. has a bigger advantage over Russia because it has more high tech weapons, but they both have a large nuclear weapons stockpile so no one would really win in all out war.
