It depends on the ink and paper, avoid direct light in addition to the suggestions already posted. Though save the file, modern printer inks aren't good for durability yet. Most modern paper unless it's archival, also contains a high amount of acid which will damage the print over time. If you don't have the file that it was created from get it scanned so you'll have a copy even if the paper degrades and the ink fades.

You mean the output from a bubble jet printer? The only way that I know of (for long term preservation) is to laminate the paper.

Keep it away from water. The ink is usually water soluble. In a frame under glass, not touching the glass, usually works. Oxygen also causes changes in paper and framing slows that way down also.
