Hi everyone, my 2 1/2 year old is sounding horse. We have had the air on due to the 100 degree weather. Because he is the youngest and very sensitive, he cries more than than my 4 year old daughter. The horseness seems to escalate after crying. Does he sound sick? He has no temp and is running around fine. Thanks in advance!

he might just have a problem with forced air..its common with people of all ages especially ones with asthma try to keep him away from the direct air flow of the air conditioner see if that helps.. also listen to his breathing if he's weazing take him to the doc he may have asthma or an allergy to something..

I am pregnant with my 2nd and have been having problems with sore throats and stuffiness from sitting in front of the fan. Give him a sippy cup with ice water in it or cold juice, maybe try some OTC remedies for children for sore throats that will soothe it.

He might have a touch of croup but probably he's just hoarse from using his voice (cry) too much. If he starts coughing, I'd take him to the doctor, otherwise just keep offering him cool things to drink.

I wouldn't worry if he doesn't seem sick with no fever or cough or nasal problems..

If he does have other symptoms then he probably does have croup... my youngest gets it all the time...a tsp of onion juice clears it right up...
