Do you need special class to operate a PWC?

Does any one know if it is mandatory to take a water safety course to operate a PWC?

I have investigated many resourses and can't find anything for a law in the state of Florida, even the coast guard. Everything I find is for2005 or before.

Check your own state & local laws.

Where I'm at, it isn't mandatory but it's a real good idea. Boating & PWC Safety Classes are provided by the coast guard or local Dept of Natural Resources.

There are age restrictions for the driver & wear a life jacket always.
