We always used hanging; it's the cheapest, quickest and easiest way of dispatching a convict. A quick drop and a sudden stop, they break their neck and are dead instantly. Lethal injection and electric chair can take quite a lot of time in comparison, are more expensive and can be quite painful for the victim.
We should have it back, it has been proven that capital punishment is a huge deterrent, and statistically proven that it saves more lives in the long run, and the lives it saves are almost all innocent. It was estimated in the UK before it was abolished, that for every hanging seven murdered were deterred; this not only shows how it can justify the killing of a criminal but also of the occasional innocent to fall victim to the noose. It means that more lives are being saved.

List methods depending upon the crime and USE THEM. we now have the scientific proof that someone commited a crime why release the pedophiles and rapists so they can carry it out again - the children/women they abused have to live with it daily the thing that carried out the crime should be put down as you would an agressive, destructive animal.

Firstly may I point out that we still have capital punishment in the UK. You can actually be hung for committing treason.
Secondly, I do not believe in capital punishment. It is wrong. Killing someone will never bring closure. Research in the United States also suggests that it is also more expensive to keep someone on death row for 50 years than to give them life with out parole. This is because of the cost of all the appeals and legal representation etc.
I know Tony Blair is a tosser, but one of his few saving graces is that he continually lobby's Bush about ending the death penalty in America.

As members of the European Community we are not allowed by the terms of our membership to have capital punishment. This is a primitive practise only employed by rather backward countries such as Saudi Arabia, China, Iran and America.

I suggest that the victim's friends and family should choose the method but here's a few suggestions to be going on with:-
Child Molesters:- Castration by blunt scissors followed by having a live grenade inserted up their rectum and detonated
Rapists:- much the same but with a sledgehammer instead of the scissors
Terrorists who kill in the name of Islam:- covered in pig fat and dropped into a mincing machine and the bits fed to pigs
Anyone who kills using a gun should be forced to play Russian Roulette until they blow their own brains out

I think that for a person to receive capitol punishment in any judicial system there has to be 110% positive proof that the person is guilty.
In UK, I would like to see the birch brought back for lesser crimes, like wife/husband beating, long time looker but 1st time shoplifter. for the more serious crimes, the death penalty. Apparently hanging is against human rights so lethal injection in it's place.
it's time to let the criminal know it is not fun to commit crimes here anymore.

Some people are too dangerous to be allowed to live, because they could kill other prisoners, jail staff,or visitors. As for the rest, they should be jailed for the rest of their lives.Btw.I think there should be no parole for any-one convicted of a violent crime,if they mis-behave in prison, they should get a lot of extra time added on,with no recreation facilities, and food that is little better than pigswill.

I think convictions for the crimes would actually drop because so many jurors could not bear the thought of sending someone to their death when they may have been mistaken. And look at the USA -loads more murders there than here but they have the death penalty.

Small crime we should put people in the stocks of the local market square and the punishment should get worse for the more serious crimes.

Lethal injection, I think, is the most practical and humane. However, it would be nice if convicted terrorists could be made to suffer a slow painful death as a revenge for their victims.
