I'm not sure why - but I do have a tip for you. Once you've washed your towles, leave them in the washer and add 1/2 cup white vinegar. Then just put the washer through the last rinse cycle. This also works if you "forget" the clothes in the wash. It takes out that musty smell. Hope that helps - good luck.

Bleach will kill the mold smell. Also hang your towel on a clothes line in the sun. Don't forget to add a little softener to eliminate the bleach smell!

the thing you might want to try is bleach(if its a white towel) othrwise, get it damp and put it in the microwave for 60sec. be careful when you take it out, it will be hot. The heat will kill off anything, and everything. Careful watch the towel in the microwave, it might combust, if its not wet enough

If it is just that one towel, it has probably got mold or mildew in it. Toss it. It is probably unhealthy.

You aren't letting it dry. Bleach will take away the smell but if it doesn't dry thourly it will happen again.
