Several people in a local theater troupe would like to put on a show at nursing homes. Seeing that we would like just to cover our expenses, who would be the BEST people to ask to donate or sponsor us? Nursing homes in small communities do not have a budget for this. Please help with some REAL suggestions and ideas.

You should try the purveyors of nursing homes. The linen company, the drug companies, medical supply companies, food suppliers, even local businesses. Be sure to let them know their contribution will be noted (or advertised) in the plays program. It never hurts to try the Doctors and their local golf course either.

Every nursing home I've ever had dealings with had an Activities Director. Perhaps she can direct you toward businesses that have helped in the past. But I'm with the one above who can't forsee any expenses except gas to get there.

What would your expenses be? Why can't all of you just donate your time and talents without recompense? It doesn't seem like it would cost you that much. You wouldn't need all of the scenery. You've already rehearsed for your paid performances. You have your costumes and makeup. It's great that you want to bring some enjoyment to our older citizens. I hope you can find a way to do it!
