No it won't. You need to allow your email client access through it though, so when it asks, set it to always remember the answer.

Only if you are using a desktop e-mail client like Thunderbird or Eudora. After installing ZoneAlarm firewall, the next time you use your desktop e-mail client it will ask if it is O.K. for this program to connect with the Internet. If you say "yes" then ZoneAlarm will add it to the white list and it will never prompt you again.
As for web based e-mail services, like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail, ZoneAlarm will not interfere with these services whatsoever.
