I think Spanish will be a majority eventually. California will be first, and I'm all right with that. I lived in Southern California for many years, my parents and their parents did too, and yes there were a few intermarriages.
What most people don't know, is that all you see on TV and the news are gangs. That is not representative of the average Hispanic family.
No one is foolish enough to believe the gradual transitions will be easy. Hopeful we will have leaders, Hispanic and white who work for the benefit of all.
Another thing I would like to add is that you do not find Hispanics whining about the land we took from them, or their exploitation for many years. For instance, before the late 1950's Hispanics were not allowed in many small town theaters and restaurants...remind you of anything. They faced discrimination and exclusions in many places, yet you don't hear them moaning and groaning like many races who have had similar situations.
I'm going to brush up on my Spanish one of these days, if the anti's don't turn me in.

Depends on what you mean by "Spanish." Spanish comes from Spain, which is a Caucasian country and the origin of the Spanish language. Perhaps you should say Mexican, Honduran, Salvadorian, etc.. In the old days, people were afraid of the Irish, the Hungarians, the Jews, the Russians, the Germans and others. The biggest wave of immigration occurred in the years 1901-1910. The rate today is far below that.
In California, that may be true that Hispanic or Latino people will be or already are a majority. But what is the implication?

Japanese are Spanish?
And no, I doubt it. There are many more in India and China than in Mexico, and the world is becoming smaller.
I happen to consider most hispanics white. However, even if you want to consider them a different 'race', I think that eventually this will not be a majority white country, but that Spanish will not be in the majority. It will depend on future demographics and migration patterns which race is the future majority.
However, it is a long ways off.

Spanish? Do you mean will the Hispanic population be larger than the white population? or do you mean that the Spanish language be more widely spoken than the English language?

Possibly. Hispanic population rank second in the U.S. now. If Bush doesn't do anything , you might as well elect the first Mexican president in the U.S., and (Mexican) Spanish will be the official language *lol*. Of course I'm not too much worried. i have Hispanic ancestry in my family
