Although capital punishment is abolished in UK, in countries where the death penalty is still used does the person to be executed have a choice of method they would prefer?

Seventy one countries in the world still have capital punishment. China executes the most. They account for over 90% of all executions. It is difficult to get information on the way in which China executes their offenders since they hold much of their data as a state secrete. As far as I know, only some states in the US give the offender a choice of the method of execution. Those states are Ohio, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Utah, and Washington. Some countries still behead or stone the prisoner to death. Amnesty International compiles as much information as they can get on capital punishment around the world. In the US, the form of capital punishment is determined by the state. Today, most states use either the gas chamber or lethal injection, but I remember as a kid that some states still used hanging as a form of capital punishment, and NY used the electric chair.

Honestly depends on the state. Some states as most have went to lethal injection. Some states still use the electric chair. And in the states that have more than one mode of execution yes, it is up to the condemned as to choice of execution.

Lets hope the UK gets capital punishment back, there are so many immigrants now causing trouble we could do with cutting down on a few hundred thousand of them.
String 'em all up, and a few legal UK wrong doers also...

No, there should be no choice - it is a punishment.
By the way, the death penalty is still technically available in UK ... for treason.

Not in the U.S. states where it's legal. Most of the time lethal injections are used.

that decision is up to the judge and jury. the jury suggests the method but the judge makes the ultimate decision at the sentencing.
