Or should I just let it burn through?

About 2 hrs ago I asked how you light it, which I know how to do, and I just tried it and it worked, but could you tell me if there's a way to put it out? It's for Lammas. Thank you, you're all great people! ;-)

There is only one way to start fire. Three elements must be present, fuel, oxygen, and ignition temperature. Remove any one of the three and fire cannot exist. There are several ways to extinguish charcoal but all are variations on the same theme.
decrease the ignition temperature or remove the oxygen. Sand will deny the the burn of oxygen but will not lower the temperature quickly, water is effective at doing both. When the water evaporates the charcoal will reignite if the three elements are present. Fun, eh?
