I went to the dentist 3 days ago for a white filing. Since then I am still having itching and rash that won't go away. The itching and rash started about 12 hours after the appointment. I thought maybe it was from the anesthetic or topical, but 3 days now is making me wonder if it could be from the filling? I called the office and they didn't seem to be too concerned, they just said it could have been from something I ate but I don't believe that.

I forgot to mention that the itching and rash is on my arms, legs, face, neck and not inside of my mouth.

I also dont think I'm allergic to the latex because I've been to the dentist several times in the past and never noticed anything like this.

call your dentist again asap! don't listen to the receptionist either, all she knows how to do is schedule appts. tell them this is not right and you want them to check it out. there are other alternative fillings they can give you too!

I have _ONE_ patient who seems to be allergic to the white fillings. I can use them if they are not under her gums, but I put one in a third molar where the gum was really high on the back of the tooth so there was a lot of contact with the filling and it drove her crazy. The gum was red in that area and she also said that it itched all the time. I trimmed and polished it very carefully at a subsequent visit to make sure that it was not a mechanical irritation and it didn't help. I ended up replacing it with a silver filling and she has been fine. The thing is, the same thing happened on the other side of her mouth in the other wisdom tooth. We decided that she's got an allergy and I won't use the white fillings where there will be a lot of contact with her gums. Fortunately, she doesn't have too many cavities...
Of course, her reaction was extremely local and limited to the site of contact. Your reaction could be due to a sensitivity to the gloves or glove powder or, yes, it could be coincidence and you are reacting to something else, such as something you ate. Stuart's answer above about Benadryl is good advice in that case.

Even if you have had contact with latex before and had no reaction does not mean that you are not now having an allergic reaction to it. Allergies to these sorts of things build up from repeated exposure. I would suggest you go to your doctor and have him send you for allergy testing. You should get this looked at as allergies can be life threatening and you don't want latex near you again if are having a reaction to it as chances are the reaction will be more severe next time.

perhaps you were allergic to the gloves they used? I had a friend who's face broke out big time...all over her face and even on the inside of her cheek! Perhaps it's stress...or it's that you are allergic to something you ate or touched. I've had allergic outbreaks from touching things and break out on a totally different part of my body. Point is, is that your body doesn't like something and it's a good thing that your body is letting you know. I'd go to the doctor instead of back to the dentist.

Take a Benedryl capsule. If the itching and rash are still present 4-6 hours later, go to your doctor and have it checked out.
If you experience any difficulty breathing or severe dizziness, get to the emergency room.

It would not sound like your a-standard allergic reaction. looks like the dentist would have bruised the muscle while he grow to be giving the injection that would nicely be the reason for the knot on your cheek, and it ought to reason some swelling, that would all be trauma brought about via the injection. He would have greatly surprised a nerve on your cheek inflicting the numbness. it extremely is conventional the be sore and complicated to open your mouth it extremely is all brought about via being labored on right this moment. attempt taking some Ibuprofen, and if no longer some what extra desirable in the morning i might call your dentist and communicate your indications with him. in case you start to have problems swallowing, and your throat feels love it extremely is swelling you should seek for scientific help ASAP.
