Ditto on auburn, light may work for you, altho I'm fair skinned and dark auburn is definately my color.

I am naturally a dark brunette with pale skin and the hair color is fine. The constrast can be nice. Interestingly enough, when I was bleaching my hair blond, that made look even more pale and washed out too.

Try the color you always wanted to be. I used to have very dark hair and always wanted to be a blond but just wasn't sure about it. I took the plunge and have never gone back to the dark color. After all it is just hair dye. If you don't like it you can always change it.

go with some lowlights(as opposed to highlights)maybe in a light or medium brown. Have the stylist start with a little and you can keep gradually adding more until you like the result. It will give your hair more of a textured look, too, which is always nice.

Brown looks good on everybody. Whenever you buy the hair dye, pay attention to the name of the color. If it has the word "ash" in it, it'll be less red-toned. You need ash in your hair dye if your skin has pink undertones. If you have yellow undertones, you need a dye with the keyword "golden". And if you have an olive complexion, "golden" and "red" or "cherry" are your keywords.
But if you really have no clue, just go to a salon and let them fix you up nice.

Just go one shade darker than you are already, that way it wont be a drastic change. If you end up liking it, in about 2 weeks go darker 1 shade at a time. lowlights is a good idea that way you get a good idea of what your hair will be like darker, and yet you still have your natural color.

Go auburn. Dark hair would make you look ghostly pale. You'll regret it.

Black looks good on anyone! Actually - take a friend or ask a sales person for their opinion at the store.
