The anti Christ is not a person.
It is a term that is meant to be descriptive of the way certain pseudo Christians pretend to be followers of Jesus. People like Pat Robertson and Jerry Fallwell, They are a minority, but they are so vocal they drown out the rest.
Jesus always stood for a loving, inclusive, nonjudgmental approach to his fellow man.
The bigot pseudo Christians see their brand of Christianity as an exclusive club from which they judge all others as being unworthy of any fate other than burning in hell.
Their actions are almost the exact opposite of what Jesus Christ taught.
Hence the name antichrist, or opposite of Christ.

MAKE SRE YOU ARE NOT ANTICHRIST
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Heb.2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Heb. 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Heb.2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Heb.2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 1John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.1John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 1John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 1John 2:24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. 1John 2:25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 1John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I do believe we are nearing and/or are in the Last Days. Christians won't even be around for the Anti-Christ's rule. He will come in his own time after the Rapture (mass evacuation, when Christ takes His people out of the earth). And when he is in rule, everyone will then be crying out for God to save them.

according to this forum, it seems like the anti-christain spirit is alive and well, but I don't see the anti christ appearing until after the rapture of Christs' church, after the kingdom of the gospel is preached unto all nations.

The anti-christ refers not to a particular person but to a state of mind - a state of consciousness. And what is that consciousness?
It is the mindset that opposes the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is the consciousness of Oneness with God where the absolute truth of God is known. The mind of Christ is in perfect balance with and harmony with God's laws.
The mind of anti-christ is the mind of mortality that cannot know the truth of God as to it truth is relative to things in this world.
Therefore, the mind of anti-christ is in greater or lesser degrees in everyone who has not completely put on the mind of Christ.
In one sense, the great challenge and our great calling in life is to root out all vestiges of the mind of anti-christ within us (as the tares sown among the wheat) and fully put on the mind of Christ until we are one with God in the Christ consciousness.
