I would use some tea tree oil in a spray bottle to clean the scalp. It is an anticeptic and will clean oil and dirt from the scalp. Some water is needed in order to dillute the tea tree oil. You can also clean the scalp w/ Apple Cider Vinegar.

Try "pssst". It's in a spray can. You can find it in your drug store for about $2.99. I've never tried it but I've read about it in fashion magazines a few times. Celebrity stylists and fashion editors use it all the time.
