What is the purpose of this question? I am Muslim and can give you plenty of similarties between Christianity Islam and Judaism.
The purpose of your question is fulfilled after reading all the ignorant commends about Islam. You must be very happy. The punishment for this mischievous question will be on judgment day.

I have not idea why anyone would make that claim. Granted, they are both monotheistic religions and they both share a common history, in that they both claim to have come from Judaism.
As a result of this shared history, both hold the "old testament" in high regard, but not as the Law. For christians, the "new testament" gives the new laws by which humans are to live. Yeshua delivered a message of salvation, explained what laws are most important, and in later books, there were visions which altered the old laws (ie dietary restrictions). In islam, the Quran is the the word of G-d as reveals to Muhammed, the prophet. This is the main holy text of islam.
They also both worship the same G-d. The difference is that christianity says that the prophecy of the old testament had been completed and that Yeshua is the messiah, the son of G-d. Islam does not deny the existence of Yeshua. However, in Islam, Yeshua is a great prophet, but not the son of G-d.
Also, the concept of "original sin" which is in christianity, in that mankind is born flawed, tainted with the sin of Adam, is where christianity and Islam differ. Islam says that G-d is a just G-d and that to hold a person responsible for the crimes of one's ancestors is unjust, therefore original sin does not exist.
Both religions have some things in common, but they also have some fundamental differences. Perhaps these people meant that both religions have histories of violence and intolerance? Both have had performed repugnant acts of violence in the name of their G-d? But really, most ideologies and movements have done this. The communist revolutions, hiding in the guise of a liberating people's movement slaughtered people and stole property. Democratic governments, under the pretense of spreading freedom and democracy have invaded and violated other countries. Over-enthusiastic sports fans have caused riots after matches. Even green-peace and peta have had its share of extremists.
On a side note: ernest77h is an ignorant moron. By his logic, Jews cannot be "good americans" either. In Judaism, the highest authority is G-d. The Laws by which one lives is clearly laid out in the Torah. Slavery is acceptable, and many other points that "american" laws clearly prohibit. It is people like him that perpetuate ignorance and intolerance. People like him are no better than Nazis. The Nazis demonised Jews, they enacted genocide against Jews. Part of their justification was that Jews could not good Germans. ernest77h is in spirit, a Nazi. I hate Nazis.

People claim that Islam is similar to Christianity and they are. There are passages in the bible that are exactly the same as the Quran. People stereotype Muslims as bad people or war hungry people because of terrorism and war, but in reality if you read the Quran you would be mesmorized at how much the Quran resents this. The Muslims who claim that killing Jews for no reason is part of their religion are stupid because this is not the case.
some of the mixed up confusion about Islam are:
1. Allah means God in Arabic even the Christians in the Middle East use the term Allah as God. Its not a different God.
2. THe real Muslims who abide by the Quran are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
And of course Christianity and Islam are the same in some forms.
For example:
* Muslims believe in Jesus Christ. THey do not believe he was crucified, but they respect him as a Prophet.
* In the Quran it states that Islam is mainly Christianity and Judaism.
If you have any more questions. feel Free to to ask me ANYTHING about this topic.

Can Muslims Be Good Americans?
Bigoted or not........just read and think and draw your own
conclusions. Can Muslims be Good Americans?
Can a devout Muslim be an American patriot and a loyal
citizen? Consider this:
Theologically, no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the
moon god of Arabia.Scripturally, no.Because his allegiance
is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran)
Geographically, no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to
which he turns in prayer five times a day.Socially, no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him
to make friends with Christians or Jews.
Politically, no. Because he must submit to the
mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the great Satan.Domestically, no, because he is instructed to marry four
women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys
him (Quran 4:34).
Religiously, no. Because no other religion is
accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)
Intellectually, no, because he cannot accept the American
Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he
believes the Bible to be corrupt.Philosophically, no, because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran
do not allow freedom of religion and __expression.
Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist.
Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.
Spiritually, no, because when we declare "one nation under
God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while
Allah is NEVER referred to as our heavenly father, nor is
he ever called love in the Quran's 99 excellent names.
Therefore after much study and deliberation....perhaps we
should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this
country. They obviously cannot be both good Muslims and good
Americans. Call it what you wish...it's still the
truth. If you find yourself intellectually in agreement with
the above, perhaps you will share this with your friends.
The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country.
The war is bigger than we know

well islam and christianity are from the same God, islam following christianity and asking us muslims to believe in christianity, judism, and all the past prophet including jesus, moses, abraham, noah .. etc
islam points to the same ideals as christianlty; love, faith, honesty, etc.
the only difference is that islam does not accept the trinity concept or the crossing of Jesus christ for the salvation of all mankind. in fact, islam states that jesus was lifted in heaven alive and is still alive to descend back to earth after the antichrist, leading all true believers back to God

They are not the same. Any superficial similarity is due to the fact that Mohammed copied a lot of Christian and Jewish scripture and included that in his Koran. The theology of the two religions are entirely different.
Islam supports hate, murder, bigotry etc. Just read their holy books, I did!

I agree. And I feel the same way with christianity and Judaism.
While Judaism, christianity, and Islam, have similarities - they are still fundamentally different religions with different ideas of, and therefore different, gods.

Of course they're not the same. But they're not that radically different either. There are a lot of things that they have in common. Almost all the stories in the Bible are in the Qur'an in one way or another and Jesus is accepted as a prophet in Islam.
There is more that connects them than there is that seperates them.

And you're basing your theory on what? Because I can talk to hundred of people more knowledgeable than you are and they say there are similarities. Beginning with the fact that muslims and christians worship the god of abraham and the god of solomon--the same god. If you deny that, you deny god himself and will burn in hell for all eternity. good luck with all that you "Know"--I stick with what I know,
