I think it was. We now know (and our leaders knew at the time) that Iraq did not possess WMDs. Thus, Saddam was not an imminent threat. Some have suggested that his removal destabilized the entire region. In hindsight, l wonder whether this was a smart thing to do. I guess that I come down on the side that it's never smart to start a war predicated on a lie because, eventually, the people find out about the lie and it destroys morale and erodes support for the war.

It was planned by the administration, and from their point of view not a mistake. However, it was unnecessary, and permission to do so was only obtained from congress by lying to them about WMD.

Saddam was completely contained by sanctions and monitoring, and was not a threat to the US. We have no right going into any country that is not an imminent threat.

The terrorists that attacked us on 9/11 were associated with groups based in Afgahnistan - that attack was appropriate, but the attack on Iraq was not.

Yes it was a mistake of us to attack Iraq, and now we are paying for it!

I still believe this is the start of WW3, and I believe that we are the ones that started it by attacking Iraq.

Whatever we get, we deserve, because of our idiot president. He will go down in history as the worst president of all time.

I dont think anyone would say that it was a well thought through plan, however with respect what is the point of asking the same question over and over again on here (not you personally) when whats done is done and cannot be undone.

Lets all move on.

They found WMDs. What, your news source didn't tell you? Tisk tisk, better find a new one.

Plus the fact that Hussein even used them on his own people. The "we were lied to" argument is downright retarded. Politics as usual. Just cut to the chase and say "I hate George Bush!"

i support my government. i believe they are doing everything they can to bring peace to the world and i think the real problem is the people who dont trust the government and so they do negative things.

i support our being in iraq. i was in iraq. i talked to many locals who said we made their lives much better and they loved americans. we did the right thing and that is what people forget.

No it wasn't a mistake. Better to fight them there than here. Thank God that Kerry wasn't our president and a God fearing man like George Bush is our president. He stands firm.
