Our Great Dane just chewed up her 4th dog bed and it was supposed to be a "toughchew" bed we bought from Orvis. It only took three days for her to chew through this one. Thankfully we are receiving a refund since it was guaranteed.

We do have to crate her during the day into our office and she is left with food, water, a rope, a rawhide, and a stuffy and still for some reason she finds joy in chewing up her bed. Thankfully, she only chews on her bed (also her stuffy but that's only $5) and not anything else but I don't want to keep buying her a new bed every other week! I don't want her to sleep on the cold hardwood floors either, somebody help!

At my animal shelter I use Karunda beds, the metal ones last longer than the plastic ones but if your dogs a chewer its hard to find anything that will last a long time. Bitter Apple spray helps so does supervision and a spray of water in the face if you catch him doing it. What i use for my own giant breed is some white fleece vet bed. This is hard to chew and fits in the washing machine easy whist keeping them off the ground and helping combat bursers.

No such thing unfortunately.
Dog teeth are made to chew flesh, tendons and gristle from animal bones. And a Great Dane is among the largest strongest dogs alive today. Sorry but you are out of luck.
I know you don't want to leave him on the hard floor, but consider that a small amount of the bedding is being swallowed. There is always a risk that she will get an intestinal blockage. If you are not home, that could be tragic.
Have you tried making the beds taste bad with a spray or something? That might work, but some dogs develop a taste for the stuff.
Drs. Foster and Smith carry a bed that is a vinyl type mesh stretched tightly over a metal frame. It would be off the ground, and maybe not "plushie" enough for her to consider chewing.
Good Luck

Great Danes are great dogs but do have chewing tendencies as do most large dogs. You crate him/her which is good but as for the bed things, honestly, your better off just getting a soft carpet. As for the rawhides/rope/chewtoys, the thing is, dogs get bored of their toys just like kids do. You have to take them away from him/her whenever they aren't playing with them. For example, if you give it to them during the night, take it away when they aren't playing/chewing on them. It makes them want their toys/chewers even more when you give them back to them. As for the hardwood floors, if your dog is an inside dog, the best thing is a soft rug that they will enjoy. If you dog is an outside dog, believe me, they will prefer the hardwood to anything that will hold too much heat. YOu have to see how your dogs reacts to the cold/heat. if he/she curls up into a little ball, they probably don't like the cold. IF they just lay out, they probably like the cold.

i don't think there is an indestuctable dog bed unless it's made of concrete. try to train your dog not to chew on it's bed? also maybe it has too much energy from being crated all day, try taking her for a long walk or play with her right before she goes to bed
