I say real sugar, hands down. I don't use substitutes, because 9 out of ten of them I can't stomach the taste. But if you tend to have a sensitive stomach, stay AWAY from that Splenda crap. This is a bit embarrassing to admit, but that stuff gives me gas (the painful kind, bloats up my stomach something awful, like you've just eaten Thanksgiving dinner and you ate WAY too much because it was so good). So even though I'd love to save some calories in my coffee in the morning (what can I say, I like it sweet), I'd much rather stick with the natural stuff. You could use honey, if want something a bit different. No websites, though, I'm afraid. Just search for "sugar substitutes".

sugar tastes better but a sugar substitute is Splenda brand sweetener which claims to have zero calories and is used in diet soft drinks and is also better for people with diabetes

go to: http://www.splenda.com/

and http://www.karlloren.com/Diabetes/p40a.htm for nutrition facts and safety of Splenda
hope that helps!

Sugar is better...just eat in moderation. There is a chemical in sugar substitutes that is very bad for you (Aspartame). It is in alot of sweetners. It causes lots and lots of side effects. Can make you not walk after years of taking it. Can do all sorts of things...when it warms up in your body, it is like having embalming fluid in you. After not having it for one month, your symptoms can disappear. Read about it on Aspartame.com. (you'll see). I don't drink diet drinks anymore because of it.

for health reasons i can not use sugar. splenda is good but it does not dissolve well in cold liquids. so if i am having iced tea, i use sweet n' low. sweet n' low will get very bitter if you try to cook with it. so for hot items i use splenda.
