i have a good friend who's surprise birthday party is today and i got her a really nice gift. not to sound cocky but it is a gift that i know will be a lot nicer than the other gifts that are going to be there. should i wait to give it to her in private? or should i just give it to her in front of everyone? i don't want to hurt anyone's feelings...

I'd just give it to her in front of everyone, but don't make a big deal out of it. If the two of you are close friends, I'm sure the others would understand that you might get her something nicer than what they might. Just don't say how much you spent or make a big deal about it. Have fun at the party.

Always give her the gift at the party. Don't wait.
You said she is a good friend? Well then if some one says something about how nice your gift is theres your response. You would rather have them comment on the nice gift then no gift at all right?

Give it to her in front of everyone. But… don’t make a big deal out of it; just be casual. Others might also comment on the gift u got her. If u give to her in private, others will be itching to know what u got her. And they’ll prob talk behind yr back cause u “gave it to her in private”.

Go ahead and show off! Give it to her right there in front of everyone, I would. You should be proud that you picked a gift that she will really like.

The person who picked out a bad gift should be the one giving it to the birthday girl in private!

Give it to her in private. I have been in that situation and it really hurts when the gift you've given is almost like a throw away compared to what others have given. Very thoughtful of you to consider other's feelings...good for you.

I agree with frost eats fire, maybe give her the gift before the party and then a card during the party.
