I mean, what would be the point? He just created us, then just sits back and lets us do whatever we please?

Think of it this way: Do you let your children do whatever the hell they want? NO!! Of course not. Chaos would ensue.

Thank you for posing a rational thought provoking question.
I've often wondered that too.

I couldn't stand by and watch something I had created suffer the pain and heartache that humanity endures, free will or no.

That's why I have no belief in god as portrayed by Christians or most other religions.

This gives man the chance to prove he can look to him for help we have the guide book the Bible yes we need instructions to put things to gather so why not our lives. The problem when goes to put something to gather without reading the instruction book and it don't work they blame the manufacturer. That is the problem to day people think they know it all with out looking at the instruction book.

God gave us free will, not to be puppets on a string. He WANTS us to choose Him, He does not force us to do so. As far as allowing children to do whatever they want...well, we try and guide our children, teach them right from wrong but when they get to be a certain age, we cannot MAKE them do anything unless we chain them to their beds or something and a loving parent does not do that. You sound as though you've never raised a teenager!

Do you have children?

I do and even though they came from me and I care for their every need, I don't want them to be robots.

I want them to love me out of their own free choice. I want to have a relationship and a friendship with them. I want them to survey all the choices in life and choose to live like our family chooses to live. I want them to love me like I love them, freely.
If this is a source of pain so be it. With the freedom to do what is right comes the freedom to sin. However with out free will we become mindless robots.

to see who would love Him and do what is right. choice. because He did. this is my opinion. to either do what is good or evil.

ask Jesus into your life and be born again by the power of the Gospel (an actual real life event in your real life) if you do this in a prayer sincerely God will answer you! you have to truely seek then God will answer!

I guess you want to be a robot instead of learning how to live a life free of choices.

Free will is the best gift He gave us. If we didn't have it, what is the point in living? We'd be predictable robots, eh?

He gave us freewill, but he also gave us instructions, just like our children we teach them right and wrong, and do they always do the right thing?

So, by your logic, it would have been better for God to create us, then put us in "robot" mode?
