I have noticed that people harass other people when they see that it get a reaction. If you do not react in a hurt or mad way they will probably stop because they are not getting the desired reaction anymore. Whenever I was harassed I just went along with it and turned it into a joke, laughed it off, and acted like what they said didn't bother me at all. Eventually they stopped doing it cause it wasn't fun for the anymore.
As for enjoying your 8th grade yr. maybe get involved in a school activity like a sport or club. And just relax and have a good time. Enjoy your friends.

Just don't overeact to anything anybody says. If they said something mean, just say 'ok' really casually and act like its the last thing in the world you care about. Eventually mean people will realize they can't get a reaction out of you and leave you alone. Don't fight or talk back---I mean, why waste your energy on lame people like that?
Do what you have to do and be done with it. It's the best way to pass 8th, and hopefully the later years will get better.

I always had the same problem when I was your age I never had an answer. But now I say find a way somehow to tell them off in a way that is polite. Ask any southern that's the way they do it. But stick up for your self. Stand up straight stick your chest out and just act like you have all the confidence in the world. Confidence makes you a harder target so they start to leave you alone. Oh and finding a friend that will stick up for you helps too.

its nice to be nice... but u gotta stand up for urself if ur being bullied around.. ur right u dont have to be nice to the people who have been botherin u for a year.. just ignore what they do i think thats the best way.. but if they still bother u, make friends with sum big beefy guys and ask them to be ur bodyguards..
8th grade is fun if u-
do ur homework on time,
make some quality friends,
dont change ur attitude negatively towards old friends or ur family despite any changes ur undergoing-- physically or emotionally,
stay away as far as u can from drugs drinking all the bad things associated with these horrible addictions.
do some community work-- ur growing up u gotta change ur views about people around u.. so make sure its a positive change
get a descent job-- ur growing up so gain independence.
NEVER FORGET UR MORALS..
if u follow this it may not be fun always-- u may have to say no sometimes, u may have to even go against close ones for a right cause but what u will get is happiness... thats for sure
hope this helped
all d best

Hey grl, im going into 8th grade too and i know what yr talking about when you say you came to a new school....ive been there and since i didnt know about yahoo answers i couldnt get any help from anyone.....well first of all being nice isnt a bad thing but being too nice is....if people are harrasing you this is what i would say...."hey just back off and stop being mean to people" "Yr just another lowlife that has no self esteem at all and gets all happy from teasing others"......ya know?....trust me, it'll get them to back off...and if they still keep doing that.....just ignore them....bullies usually stop teasing people if they realize they're not getting anything out of it...they stop if they'res no reaction.....but my advice...say something to them first (so that you get something out of it) and then just ignore them.....and tips for enjoying 8th grade, just make new friends and meet new people....friends are the main reason i look forward to going to school, i mean in the summer you never see them....so, relax, have fun, and be yourself!

Just look at them like they are really stupid and say something like "whatever" very flatly. It helps if you have a friend or small group with you doing the same thing.
To enjoy yourself, put a lot of time and energy into hobbies. Once you hit high school you will do other things so if you wanted to get good at something now is the time to do it.

Jr. high school is a hard time for I think all kids. My advice? Just keep your head down, do well in your classes, find 1 or 2 good friends that you can trust, and know that high school is going to be better than middle school. You'll be okay! We all had to go though it so we can sympathize with what you're going though.
Good luck sweetie and have as much fun as you can!! :)

well, basically, just enjoy it, try new experiences, make new friends, do something that you wouldnt ususally do. Because at the end of 8th grade, whatever you did it wont matter since most of your friends/classmates or whatever would be going to different high schools. So... enjoy it while it lasts.

The one piece of advice I can give you is just be yourself. If they dont like you then just ignore them. They don't know what they are missing out on by not getting to know you. If you ignore the ones that are harrassing you then they will eventually just stop cause they will see that it is not bothering you. Just remember to stay true to yourself.

KIDS WHO HARASS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN BULLIES AND BULLIES NEED TO BE REPORTED. THIS WILL END THE PROBLEM QUICK . IN MY SCHOOL DISTRICT ZERO TOLERANCE FOR BULLIES . IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DO THIS JUST WALK AWAY AND IGNORE THEM , THEY THRIVE ON ARGUMENTS . GET INVOLVED WITH AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AND STAY ON TOP OF THE HOMEWORK . EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT IN YOUR LIFE AT ALL AGES . GOOD LUCK
