What about creating movies that glorify sex and violence?
If he were not a CELEBRITY, would you still be defending him?

jimmie_333s_babygirl: no i have never done anything I regret while drunk. As a Christian, I don't allow myself to get into situations to lose control and dishonor God. Sounds like Mel wants to serve himself more than Him.
And, would Jesus drive a Lexus? I think NOT! He would walk. I think those of you who back Mel are just in awe of his celebrity and liked that he made Passion. Bunch of hypocrites.

DEAR MORONS: A lot of you have been mentioning this word, "perfect." Did I say anything about perfect? Or are you implying that having a lexus and an island are not values endorsed by the Catholic church?
You dismiss his anti-semitic remarks as "oh he's not perfect." Well Hitler killed 6 million jews. Would you categorize him as "not perfect" either? Doesn't hate = hate?

Debra M: Oh you're not a judge? How bout when atheists attack your beliefs? Don't you judge them and think how stupid they are? Gimme a break.

First of all, he drives a Lexus because it is a well-made car and he can afford it! Secondly, he has a drinking problem and has admitted it, this doesn't make him a bad person or a hypocrit...noone is perfect! We all have our sins and fall short of the glory of God! The anti-semitic remarks were not his, they were his father's and Mel Gibson has been quoted as saying that he does not agree with them. And, he has earned his money in a legitimate way and if he wants to buy an island, well then, so be it. If people spent more time concerned with their own spirituality instead of worrying about other's, this would be a much more pleasant place to live!

Making enough money to own a Lexus and an island has nothing to do with his devout Catholic beliefs.
Drinking excessively is related to the illness, alcoholism. Maybe you have heard of it?? He has suffered from it most of his adult life and he is currently getting help for it.
Making anti-semitic remarks, while drunk, is absolutely wrong and he has apologized to all involved. Have you never said or done anything while drunk that you later regretted?
Even devote Catholics make mistakes. He's still human.

Mel Gibson is an out-and-out anti-Semitic lunatic. He's 100% off-the-wall nuts and obsessed with Jews.
Anyone in Hollywood with any human decency will consider him persona non grata from now on.
(As if that hateful inciting movie he made wasn't enough)

Have none of you said anything that was completely untrue while you were blitzed? Have any of you had to battle alcoholism as he has?
There's only one difference between our drunken idiocy and Mel Gibson's: when we spout off, our police reports are not news.
Leave the man alone. Those among you without sin may cast the first stone.

jsame kind of hypocrisy that led me to leave the catholic church over 35 years ago. But sadly, now as a Wiccan, a Pagan I find the very same thing in our community. Isn't anyone into love and peace?

Hey !
Give the poor man a break will you ?
He is human - why can't he do something like that - something a normal human would do ? He is not a clergyman ya ?
I can afford to say this because I am not a Christian - you can't blame any person or a set of them just because one person does something that we all do ? Come On people !

I think he's a very complicated man who tends to get caught up in all the shiny things his status provides. I guess you'd call him a heavily tempted man. He probably has regular sessions in the confessional with his priest, and still has things to work on in his life and relationship with God. What goes on in his heart is for God and him to know.
