No clue, but it's not because he's atheist. He claimed to be christian and was always quoting the bible and he talked about how he believed in the resurrection of Christ in his book, Mein Kampf. He was Catholic.

"Acclaimed Hitler biographer, John Toland, explains his heartlessness as follows: "Still a member in good standing of the Church of Rome despite detestation of its hierarchy, he carried within him its teaching that the Jew was the killer of god. The extermination, therefore, could be done without a twinge of conscience since he was merely acting as the avenging hand of God..." Giovanni33 13:37, 1 February 2006 (UTC) "

So, he said he was exterminating jews to get revenge for God since they killed God. UM... doesn't sound atheist at all, but I know people will claim he is atheist anyway!!

"Article 24 of Hitler's Nazi party programs calls for "Positive Christianity". Among the 25 points of the core values of this new Christianity, as explained by German philosopher Ernst Bergmann in 1934, is point number six which states: "The German religion is a religion of the people. It has nothing in common with free thoughts, atheist propaganda, and the breakdown of current religions." [6] "

I never heard that he didn't persecute Atheists... all I'm getting now that I look into it is that Hitler and the nazis persecuted "...political enemies, gypsies, homosexuals, atheists, and six million Jews."

I'm also reading that Hitler hated "godless people".

Because Hitler was a Proud atheist!

When asked why he said numerous Christian quotes he said this: I'd say I'm a red-fox to with the hearts & minds of the German people.
Jan 16 1941

October 19 1941 Hitler said: Mindkinds greatest scorges, the Pox and Christanity.

I don't know WHY Atheist don't embrase their most famous brother! Adolph Hitler

Very few people were atheists in that time. Many people lived secular lives, but it wasn't very appropriate to declare oneself an atheist in public.

Also, Hitler didn't really have a religion. Although the Nazis and SS were mostly Christian, he declared Christianity to be a "weak and flabby" religion, not nearly strict enough for his followers to live by.

It would have also been very difficult to figure out who the actual atheists were without compiling lists of members from every church and religious organization in the occupied nations, then figuring who didn't belong to one of them.

Hitler did kill atheists along with pretty much any other type of person.

He was also a devout christian, had a concordat with the vatican, and instituted prayer in schools. Read Mein Kampf and you will see numerous references to doing the will of God almighty etc etc. Also the belt buckles of the SS were engraved with "God is with us".

Whatever the full reason, the Communist Manifesto was already driving his ally, the Russians, in the beginning. So, that supported the atheists, and he had the support of these people.

He may too have been an atheist, I don't know.

Because atheists were smart enough to lie and say they were Christain, or whatever. Not like we have a faith we wanna defend or anything. Hey, I love my sweet life. I would like it only slightly less if I had to pretend to be religious.

Athiests were not percieved as a threat to the reich. Once the Jewish were pegged, it sort of set the perameters for all future actions.
