THE best approach is to say no, but do it NICELY.

Be polite, respectful, but direct and to the point. Be kind to him and say that you are flattered that he wants to dance with you but you'd prefer not to.

And then leave it at that.

Yes he will be disappointed, as would any of us if we found the courage to ask someone we liked to do something and they said no.

The difference is, if you allow him to keep his dignity by being nice, sparing his feelings, and being respectful to him, then he will be able to accept that. He will, or should, leave things alone then, be disappointed, but think you're a nice person as well.

People don't realize that this whole 'not wanting to hurt someone' thing ends up hurting more my not being up front, and then when things get to the point they end up being nasty, and that hurts worse than if they would have been up front, calm, and polite and just said, 'thank you, but no thank you'.

Good luck to you.

you choose to be agency with him. If he remains attempting there's a risk you do not make it sparkling adequate that you aren't any further fascinated. Be blunt, and tell him that it is making you uncomfortable at the same time as all you choose to be is friends with him. To be straightforward i imagine the appropriate element you may do is probable distance your self from him for a short time, merely to grant him time to enable it sink in, because seeing one yet another plenty probable can't help him get over his thoughts for you any time quickly.
