For his epic and touching film "Cast Away", Tom Hanks portrays a survivor on an uncharted Island. It appears that the right conservative wing has mocked the film as a flick where a man spends 15 minutes opening a coconut. I don't get it. This is a story of man's survival in the most difficult of situations. Yet this film is subjugated by low functioning "philosophers" to a level about a moron who is incapable of opening a nut. It appears that Tom Hanks is a magnet for bad revues from the right wing arena. Does anyone have enlightenment why these kind of thumbs down revues surface for brilliant Tom Hanks films?

He didn't pray in the movie.

The right wing KNOWS that you couldn't get out of anything that adverse without gods help.

I always thought he was being careful with the nut to save the juice. Besides, it is pretty hard to open a coconut when you don't have anything hard to work with, like a fundamentalist's head.

What? Do you have to put anyone you do not agree with in a box that you can then point to and say see THEY are doing it again. I like Tom hanks as an actor and as a human He seems much more realistic than the rest of that mob. Castaway was one of the worst main stream films made by the majors. I do not believe that it always Hanks' fault but the smell of dead fish was not from the beach in the film.

Are you really so far left that you believe any movie review that you don't agree with was written by a far right Republican?

WHEN did film critics start adding "Oh... By the way... not only does this film stink, but I am also a registered Republican" or "This movie was the best this registered democrat has seen in twenty five years" to the ends of their reviews? I never realized that film critics were sponsored by political parties.

When did it happen? When did film reviews become political? Good lord... I wonder if my agent is going to ask if I'm a registered democrat or republican before he sends me out on any more auditions?

I wasn't aware that the right conservative wing had or has mocked Tom Hanks.
Ya know... everyone is entitled to their opinion. Be it food, movies, people, government, whatever.....
You don't have to agree with them and you don't have to be happy about it. But it's not going to change it either. Get over it and move on with your life.
A good review or a bad review of a movie is not going to impact your life UNLESS you're Tom Hanks!
Not all actors are "brilliant" in all of their rolls. Tom Hanks has done his share of stinkers. But they pay the bills.

I actually didn't realize this situation even existed!

Sorry not to have any other comments. I guess the so-called "right wingers" just look for things to complain about and criticize.

Wouldn't it make sense for them to come up with some helpful ways to improve society???
