Well, depends: are you thirsty for more beer or water. If the former, then you're either an alcoholic or "biting the hair of the dog," if the latter it's because drinking dehydrates you which contributes to headache. Happy hangovers! :)

ALCOHOl has a dehydrating effect (a substances that has this effect is known as a diuretic), which causes headaches, dry mouth, and lethargy. Dehydration causes the brain to shrink away from the skull slightly. This can be mitigated by drinking water after consumption of alcohol. Alcohol's impact on the stomach lining can account for nausea. Due to the increased Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide production during metabolism of ethanol by alcohol and aldehyde dehydrogenases, excess NADH can build up and slow down gluconeogenesis in the liver, thus causing hypoglycemia.
For every pint you drink, you should consume an equal amount of water if you want to stave off dehydration.

Beer does indeed consist mostly of water. However, alcohol is a powerful poison and even the relatively low concentration found in beer is enough to poison you so that you become dehydrated. Many of the affects of drunkeness are similar to the affects of dehydration such as poor co-ordination and slurring. If you drink water between every pint you will find that this will help you to keep hydrated but also you will find you will have to drink more to experience a feeling of drunkeness.

alcohol is a poison. In order for your liver to break down this poison and remove it from your bloodstream, it requires water. It pulls the water from your body, leaving you dehydrated when it's done. One glass of water per drink before you go to bed will help. Alternating water and drink all night long will ensure you don't fall asleep before finishing your water prescription. :p

It is because the drinks make you dehydrated. The best thing to do is drink a glass of water with each drink to stop that from happening.
Good Luck!!!!!!
