Whenever he goes near a plate of table food no matter what it is he takes his paw and tries to cover it up. Its like he doesnt like the smell of it. He eats his cat food with no problem. Its just a weird thing and I thought Id ask .

My cat does that. He'll actually take a napkin that's by the plate and push it over the food if we aren't watching the plate. I'm glad my cat isn't the only one who does that.

My cat has never done that because he isn't allowed access to table food. The vet says that table food isn't good for cats. The cat is not allowed on my table or counters either. He has done some other weird things though. Cats are strange and interesting creatures. Gotta love 'em.

Your cat is telling you that it smells like ****. Sorry, my cats will do this on anything that they think smells bad.

My cats are not allowed on the table, they aren't given any plates of scraps, they prefer dry cat food, treats, and catnip, and occasionally they will eat something off the tip of my finger.

Gotta love the finicky creatures.

Actually, I've seen my cat do this. If a drop food that she doesn't consider edible to her or liking to her feline pallette - she'll do the same thing.

I don't think it's unusual.

He is trying to cover it and save it for later, and from any other animal/preditator from finding it and eating it. It is totally natural.
