christian people tend to believe that "non-believers" go to hell. so does a buddhist monk, a symbol of spirirual enlightenment, and purity who happens to not believe in the christian version of "god" go to hell?

Yes, according to Jesus, who is far more spiritually enlightened and pure than all the Buddhist monks who ever existed combined. It is His words, not ours. "I am the way, the truth and the life, NO ONE comes to the Father except by Me" (John 14:6). We receive the gift of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Being "spiritually enlightened" and pure on human terms won't get you even close to the gates.

I am a Christian, and I object to the previous answers to this question. Not all Christian’s feel the need to play “Sister Bertha Better Than You!” If one is truly a Christian, then they leave the role of Judge to the Lord. He knows the circumstances and quality of anyone’s life, whether Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, agnostic, etc.

No one has the right to overlay their beliefs onto another and deem them righteous or unrighteous for heaven. Many who believe they are “saved” will find the flames of hell licking their backsides, and there will be plenty who have never set foot in a church found singing with the heavenly host! Believe me, if I get to heaven and the Lord tells me my mansion is next door to Hitler's, I am moving in!!!!

The answer to your question can be found in two Biblical texts, and I don’t reference them to brow beat anyone. I reference them because they should be the guide by which we should live our lives.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” Matthew 7:1 (NIV)

And

“…The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:6-8 (NIV)

I believe that Buddhist monks are just as worthy of heaven as I am!

According to these Christians, yes. But, does that make sense to you? Would a person who has spent his whole life learning of enlightenment and peace be pushed out of God's sight? What about children who knew nothing better? What about good people who had some problems in their lives?

Probably there's more to life after death than such people talk about, huh?

That isn't to say that nothing matters, or that no one can know, but simply that these people don't understand what they're talking about. Jesus taught a whole lot better than that, and some day these "Christians" will accept Christ's teachings.

A Buddhist monk would probably invite you to consider who it is that is asking the question. Only in the event you can pin down the existence of a separate, substantial self (which, to the Buddhist, is doubtful) can the question have any meaning.

Absolutely not!

God is a God of infinite an unconditional love and he takes all to him in eternity.

Further more hell is not an ethereal place out in space. Hell is right here on planet earth and it is the misery that people make for themselves through selfishness, greed, and misconduct.

There is a Heaven for Christians and a seperate but equal Heaven for Buddhists. Of course, the Buddhist Heaven is called Hell.

There is no place called hell. So I would say no they do not go to hell. Nor does anyone else. But then again there is no god so you will not be judge either so you still would not go to the hell that don't exist.

The answer to that question depends upon whether such a place as "hell" exists. Is there any evidence of such a place?

Only in the delusions of those who feel the need to have someone to be better than.
