I definitely take a BIG water because they never come around fast enough on the plane and the airport is super expensive. As for food I will pack a lunch if I know that the airline isn't very good. Luck I just flew Air Transat from Calgary too Amsterdam so I made some snacks.
I don't know what that girl is talking about that you can't take food through customs. Some countries are picky about plants and such but no one is going to confiscate your ham sandwich.

Yes, I always take a bottle of water and some small snacks on my flights, mostly to Japan. Having water is very important on long flights, so I don't just say it's okay to people, but suggest for people to take water with them.

Of course. Airport food is 10 times more expensive than it should be and the snacks they give you n the airplane are never enough.

I do. I have bought pizza at the airport. Makes no sense to think the airline is going to give you anything but 4 peanuts.

Sure. Why go hungry, especially with so many meal optional flights. Plus, they have those amusement park prices at the airport restaurants.

I always take beef jerky and candy in my carry on. I buy a mocha at the airport, and a bloody mary on the plane.

Bad idea if you are travelling through customs. If not, snack away!
