In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Satan is an ok guy (not sexism intended!) and that's the reason I want to distance myself from hin. As it's implied in his name ("satan" = deceiver), he's cunning at handling true facts. Satan is what lies behind the clever cultivation of truth so as to justify injustice. For instance: the concept of pre-emptive war. It's clever, no doubt about, but lacking any human horizon whatsoever.

I would like loose my imagination on this question, however, the real answer is too simple and (to some people) too obvious.

Of course Satan is a bad dude...the bible tells us that. Of course to many he is a likable guy; inviting us to all sorts of pleasures and deeds while telling us there are no consequences.

God is good and Satan is evil. Satan can make things beautiful on the outside, but he has a motive to rob, steal and destroy. Satan can never be good. Satan has an ulterior motive when he blesses you. He can make you seemed blessed, but it's just to set you up for failure.

Re 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Re 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
2co 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

2co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

When ever someone in your family dies, this is caused by satan, the devil. he is responsible for all the pain and heartache in our world today.
I say Thank God our Father for Jesus Christ, who he sent to change things for us.
Jesus is the OK GUY.
satan has purposed in himself to distroy humanity.
Hates us, is zealous of us because we are the beloved of God.

I recommend reading the Gospel of Saint John in the New Testment.

Thanks

Saying bad things about a figment of imagination is quite insane.

He was an angel, so maybe he was an ok guy who just went down the wrong path. Maybe we should have an intervention.
