Each agency normally trains at Glynco GA at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Facility ( FLETC)
The training for each various by agency. It is good and complete, and as long as you are in good physcial condition you will make it ( I would start running if you don't already and get where you can run several miles.
Just be honest, lying will get you fired faster than anything if you get hired. If they do a complete background check, they may even send investigators to interview in person, prior teachers, neighbors where you lived over the past 10 years,
so they will k now more about you than you do by the time they do the backgound check.
Beleive me, they went back on me and new the names of old girls I had pickup up and I never knew their names but they had a file on me thick as a dictonary. They knew everyone I owed money to, anyone I was ever late paying and more.
they will ask directly on application and in interviews if you have ever stole anything, if you have ever used any illegal drugs and if you have ever been arrested.
The polygraph only verifies what is on the application, in yes or no answers, nothing tricky to it, as long as you did not lie on application. ( the polygraph is the easiest part of the entire thing)
I graduted from FLETC back in the early 80's and really had fun. They may have changed alot in 20 plus years. But at the time they had an entire old military base, an entire empty town, They have staff that pretend to live in this town and you learn to do your job in a real life setting.
They had a lake with a large yaht on it, to learn to do boardings on a boat. And a weapons range that was great. If you are the right type of person for the job you will love it, if not you will drop out.

Reading up on federal laws would not hurt you at all, I am not sure what a KSA is or what sort of bulk you will put into your protfolio, but if there is a local police agency you can talk to them about their jobs and ask how they might be similar or different from a federal job.
The polygraph is a different thing altogether. If you have done bad things and not been caught for them then you should probably own up to them because without extensive training you wont fool the machine. There is a list of questions that they will ask you first before you take the test. Just answer the questions truthfully.
Chances are the things you have done are not really all that bad if you want to go into law enforcement and it is more a question of how recent this bad behavior was purpetrated than anything else.
As far as the other guy talking about your spelling, we have spell check on the computers we use so do not sweat that.

I am sure the reason you want to join the so called law enforcement is because you really want to help people.
It is noble for you to want to help other people and you should, we should. Your education is a great thing to have if it used in a manner that would advance Freedom, Liberty and Justice. The hard core truth is, no law enforcement officers, state, city, county or federal in no way represent Freedom, Liberty and Justice.
There are somethings you can do to prepare for the job if want to become an agent. These include but not limited to. As a agent you must be willing to lie, to everyone, the agent must learn to live by double standards, the agent must rob all citizens, agents must remove families from their homes so Wal-Mart can get bigger, agents must file unjust claims in the foreign courts against the poor common man, The basic rule in becoming a foreign agent a/k/a law enforcement agent is, what ever the constitution is for, you be against, while claiming to uphold the constitution.
There are far better ways to use your education to really help people and make money while doing it.

First off, you'll need to learn to write and spell correctly. Report writing and written communication is the backbone of law enforcement. If you cannot write and spell any better than you have in this question, you must be graduating with a degree in Bull $hit.
