i agree. my mom is one and has been one since she was 8. she calls every non witness (not to their face) "worldy" or "pagan" as if she was talking down to them. she also acts like they dont know any better. i get tired of hearing her talk like that. i often tell her "you're no better". its mean but its the truth
they'll always be nice to your face. but behind your back they will call you those things. my mom says that about her own friends from work, and shes not the only one that acts this way. a majority of them do.
they're not a cult though they do share some features of a cult. such as encouraged alienation. they are often told "we are no part of this world" and "this system of things will come to an end". most problems that occur are handled by the elders in the religion. there is no outside influence at all. they are told to ignore others beliefs.
one time my mom was street witnessing with a young JW and a pentacostal opened the door. he gave the young girl a book and she flipped through it. after the man shut the door my mom told her not to flip through the book and that she should throw it out in a public trashcan as soon as possible. because it would only pollute her mind. they think that an item of any other religion in their home would bring demons in their house.
a catholic neighbor gave my mom some donuts for us when i was little. the donuts came from her church so my mom threw them out in the dumpster because she said she didnt want demons in the house.
when my parents got divorced my dad got into santeria. i wasnt allowed to accept anything he gave me that did not come directly from a store to my house. we had to throw everything out.
i tried to talk to my mom about evolution and she always says "man did not come from monkeys" and im like "but evolution does not say man came from a monkey" but she just wont believe me. the ignorance.. is just uncanny. trust me i know. i was raised as one. i had enough sense to leave. it was very hard and i even tried to take my life to get out of it. only then did she see how much i hated being one.
but i will tell you this: they drink, cuss, and sh*t just like the rest of us.

Jehovah's Witnesses are motivating primarily out of love to perform their public house to house preaching work. However, it is true that many Witnesses probably feel pity for non-Witnesses who have not yet learned the comforting message of Kingdom truth found in the Bible.
Even schoolchildren among Jehovah's Witnesses understand and can defend their beliefs from the Scriptures. Can "every other religion"? To a Witness, there are no real "divine mysteries" because the bible is an open book to him.
Witnesses also have put the filth of disgusting paganisms behind them. They know that their neighbors simply don't understand that so much of their philosophies and traditions further Satan's will rather than God's. Sad, no?
And of course, how many so-called "Christians" are fulfilling one of the central commands of Christ?:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Jehovah's Witnesses are members of an international religion that claims to be the restoration of first-century Christianity. Their sense of community and literal interpretation of the bible makes many feel they are alien to the rest of society. I am not a JW nor have any desire to be one. However I do believe that before we cast judgment on others and downgrade their beliefs we should have a better understanding of them. Sometimes they may appear patronising, but sometimes that can come down to us not fully understanding where they are coming from and treating them with the same tolerance and open mindedness we ask for from others. Just a thought!

Generally JW's are VERY dedicated to their religion and truely believe it to be the ONLY true one. So, if you belive that you're right...then OF COURSE everybody else is wrong...simple logic. There is no room for "oh, everybody is right in their own way" is you actually believe ANY religion to it's fullest extent.
PS. NOT a cult. Known all over the world as an organised religion. With over 6 million practicing members, it's a little bit more than a fad!!
Also, most of them are honest, hardworking people with a strong moral & ethical code.

Jehovah Witnesses are not a religion, they just think they are and why do they always drag their kids round with them door to door, they knock on doors at ungodly hours too but still reckon they are caring and religious, I saw a wonderful woman lose all she had for the sake of these people and when she had they turned their back on her, nice, not, I hate knocking religion but as they are not a religious group but a cult or sect I feel OK saying what I have.

I reckon the worst thing you can say to them is telling them you are not religious or not interested - it is like a red rag to a bull, they feel they have to convert you. No matter how much of an atheist you are, the best thing you can say to them is that you are already Catholic/Muslim/Jewish etc., and then they will most likely go away without arguing.
And they are so a cult - apart from going door to door, they don't want to socialise with non - Jehovah's Witnesses.

Every single religion does this and always has, there was the spanish inquisition, the deaths of Jewish people from all different religions, it has always been like that and unfortunately the human race as a whole has not got the tolerance or compassion to leave others of a different faith be

I must say that they are probably the only true Christian religion

religions....Though they do not do so....

Do I feel sorry for people who do not know, or do not want to know, or know but do not care, about what I know in my heart is the truth?
Sure, it makes me sad sometimes.
Does it make me ANGRY when people make statements as authorities a subject they prove to know little about?
Yeah, sometimes it makes me angry.
Do I feel that all other Religions are wrong.
Definitely. How can someone truly be a member of a Religion and believe in that Religion, and know in thier heart said Religion is Right and not know that anything else is wrong.
Would I be upset if a Lutheran or a Cathlic or a Wicca or a Muslim or Someone from another Religion or Someone with a different belief or even someone who does not believe in God came to my door to share what they thought I needed to know? Certainly not. I would feel thankful that they felt that I was important enough to share what they believe and I would feel proud that they believed in their faith so strongly that they tried to share it. In fact this has happened a couple of times. Once, it was, I think, some Mormons. I kindly explained that I as one of Jehovah's Witnesses was not interested in thier message. The only other Religion I remember coming was I think 2 SDA girls. They came to sell candy.
Is it true we are taught to marry only other Witnesses?
Yes. It is best to marry someone who you share things in common with. What more important thing can there be than ones faith.
Is it true that we are encouraged to make friends with Witnesses?
Of course. It is just as with marraige. A friend should be someone who is encouraging and encouraged by your association. This is the most important thing for Witnesses. We need encouragement.
Is it true that we are taught to only be friendly with other Witnesses?
NO. Jesus set the example. He was kind to all.
As far as NAQ is concerned. NAQ has serious issues with her mother. One of her other questions explained that she is mad her mom won't give her money.
I am sorry it bothers some people when we come to share the most precous thing we know. We feel it is our God given job to share his word. I urge anyone who has real concerns or questions to talk to a Jehovah's Witness face to face. Express your concerns ask your questions.
