I personally believe the "All Gods are one God" philosophy - that there is one Higher Power that transcends gender and consciousness as we know it. I feel that it is an energy that permeates the universe and everything in it, as opposed to a sentient, omniscient, omnipotent Being that is sitting somewhere watching us all. The similarities between various world pantheons in the types of Gods and Goddesses (Love, War, Fertility, Home, Death, etc.) leads me to believe that the various Gods and Goddesses of the various religions are all aspects of the same Higher Power, "broken down" by man into something that we can relate to, and to help deal with whatever needs dealing with at that point.

Different facets of the same diamond, each with their individual personalities and attributes, but ultimately all from the same source.

I think it depends on your point of view. If you are a Pagan, you would obviously say that there are and have been multiple gods. But as a Christian, I will say that there is one God -- from my personal point of view though, I believe that all religions are worship of the same God. People just see Him differently, and call Him by many different names.

Yes multitheism still exists today despite science having answered many of the questions that were previously answered by legions of Gods (if there are any). The God concept narrowed down over time and with scientific study. Than that same concept was contorted into controlling humanity rather than answering questions for humanity. PEACE!

For some reason, the question "how many Gods does it take to create a universe" sounds vaguely like the old lightbulb joke, doesn't it?
Ultimately, though, how many Gods do YOU think it would take to create a universe? And if you believe there are more than one God, how do you know WHICH is the "HIGHEST"??
There is only ONE God.

Just one.
See how the heirarchy ruins a big organisation. So does peer rivalry and internal politicians.
Dont you see the gaps in team work in the best of teams.
So well coordinated are the events and phenomenon of this vast universe that it is not possible to believe its team work.
Its a one Entity Show (not one man show)

there is only one God,

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Say: He is God, the One and Only!
God, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.

the interpretation:
teach them: He, God, is the Only One;
God is the Eternal One upon Whom all depend
God Who creates without a partner, and Who was not created and there is none comparable to the One.

Even devils believe there is one God: Law. But above such one God on "high" in plural and divided "heavens" there is one God that is in heaven: higher than the heavens: "the only true God" of false/true Gods, "the only wise God" of foolish/wise Gods, "the living God" of dead/living Gods, "that God" of this/that Gods, "the God of all grace"(no law at all), "the blessed and only Potentate" of two things claiming to be Potentate: Law and Grace; which things are an "allegory": Gal 4 to sort out, a "mystery" to solve, in the two part God "shew" called Old & New Testaments.

But one God is notably only "high" in "heavens" of high/higher heavens/heaven, and one God is in "heaven": "higher than the heavens". So it is said it's a fearful thing to "fall" into the "hands" of "God", obviously a "fall" from the higher God (Grace) to the lower God (Law), to the God on high, in the heavens. So a fall from unified heaven to divided heavens. Which is to say a "fall" from grace (God only wise), to law law (foolish God), is a fearful thing, since what's right of law/law is more law: sin, death, hell.

However the return trip, from earth to heaven(higher than the heavens) isn't fearful, since what's right of law/grace is grace.

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

There is only one god!

Since humans evolved on planet earth, they have always had to deal with their conflict over basic animal instincts such as dominance, aggression, greed, anger, and lust and their basic social instincts such as caring, concern, honesty, integrity, faithfulness, trust, justice and mercy.

And when animal instincts won out over social instincts, for some, there were negative consequences and /or guilty consciences.

Humans have also had to deal with hazards of existence such as disease, violent weather, drought, flooding, crime, wars, poverty, starvation and death.

Humans, through the ages in dealing with these moral conflicts and with these hazards of living wanted to be absolved, protected, healed, helped and wondered what followed death.

Feeling that the universe had a creator or creators, a God or Gods, they wondered where the God or Gods fit into all of this.

Early on charismatic intellectuals seized on the opportunity to meet these human needs and claimed to have the answers and developed stories by way of explanations and claimed that they had the power to call on their God or Gods to heal them, protect them, solve their problems absolve their guilt and insure their eternal life.

These were the first "theologians" be they shamans, witch doctors, prophets, priests, or what ever. And they were quick to realize the power they could have to dictate to and control people as to how they should live and behave and what they should do to appease their God or Gods.

For the most part religions have become more documented and theologians more intellectual and sophisticated, but it still is the same kind of stuff, mythologies and mythological miracles and human sacrifice to take away sins, and petitions to heal, to protect, and solve problems, and prescriptions for eternal life. And the theologians are more powerful and manipulative, as ever, of societies and governments.

What is needed is a simple pragmatic approach to theology and religion that puts theology primarily with the people and not with religious leaders, that is concise about the nature of God and mans responsibilities for how life is lived and the happiness and fulfillment that can be achieved. And in which worship is focused on praise and wisdom for living and meditation.

There is such a theology. God One God

THE CREED OF GOD ONE GOD
that God is the, omnipotent and omniscient creator of the forces of nature, that have crafted the universe and the beautiful planet earth, and have nurtured the evolution of the vast and bountiful diversity of life thereon.

that God neither intervenes in the forces of nature that he has created nor in the instincts, thoughts or actions of any creature or person.

that God is infinitely and unconditionally benevolent towards all creation and creatures and accepts all people, as they are, in this life and in the hereafter.

that people have evolved with knowledge of good and evil and the capability to choose which they will pursue.

that good consists of loving and praising God, and responding to God with honesty, integrity, diligence, and perseverance, faithfulness, mercy and forgiveness, patience and kindness, charity and caring for others, seeking fairness and justice, and promoting peace and environmental stewardship.

that the ways in which people choose to live, individually and collectively, will be determinant in their happiness and fulfillment while on earth.

that daily meditation is a powerful and essential tool available to all, in which people can examine their actions and realign them with that which is good.

that death is in the arms of God's benevolence.
.
Thus with GOD ONE GOD, the focus of our lives becomes two fold.

One is to constantly praise God for his incredible creation and infinite and unconditional love.

The other is to constantly decide which instincts are to be followed, the animal instincts of selfishness, greed, aggression and dominance or the societal instincts of caring, kindness, consideration, mercy, justice, and peace. These two sets on instincts will be in constant tension. Sincere, earnest, daily meditations are required, to reflect and review actions and insure that actions are aligned and, as needed, realigned.

There is only one God!
