Looks like it couldn't possibly work that well. Looks like the hinge would break pretty easily.

Are you talking about the "Nicer Dicer" ?

I think that the blades would eventually get dull and be impossible to sharpen. The product will work great for a while, but once the blades are dull, it's useless.

And if those blades are so damn sharp, why don't they put the tomato in skin-side UP?

It looks like it would be very difficult to really clean those intersecting sharp blades without the water pressure of a garden hose, so I would be reluctant to cut anything with it that had protein or fat in it (like hard boiled eggs you see them chopping.)

Plus, you have to be suspicious when part of their spiel contains sentences that you know are not true "Celery is difficult to chop." Celery, potatoes, and apples are among the easiest things to chop. They offer enough firmness to make it so that you can cut into same-sized pieces without squishing them (unlike tomatoes), but they are not as firm that they are actually difficult to cut (like carrots, rutabagas, turnips.).

And you might want to notice that when she has to cut carrots, the carrots she has are just short sections from the thick end of the carrot, In other words, what she is cutting is a lot more squat-cylinder-shaped and a lot less skinny-cone-shaped than the carrots you and I buy in the supermarket.

I think the NIcer Dicer won't really live up to its promises.
