Do you want the model to be static (display only) or flying? I'm going to assume that you meant flying.

Do you want the model to be powered or unpowered? I'm going to assume that you meant powered.

Do you want the model to be controlled or uncontrolled? I'm going to assume that you meant controlled.

There is actually a company making inexpensive ready-to-fly aircraft with remote controls and engines. They are simple and constructured from styrofoam. Very easy to maintain and replace parts. Nothing too advanced either. It is probably the best entry level concept that I've ever seen. I thought they were electically powered, but don't remember for sure.

Other simple materials for model airplanes are paper (already mentioned), balsa wood (rubber band powered or gliding), and various foams, many of which are slowly replacing balsa wood. Materials don't get much simplier, but construction of large airplanes is more advanced. Not rocket science mind you, but just not something you slap together.

For static models, resins, white metal, and plastics are used individually or in combination. Resin and white metal are fairly common choices if you can make a simple pattern and then want to cast copies. Not the easiest to work with, but they'll provide adequate detail.

I recommend that you search the Internet to become more familiar with available products and then refine your question.
