Your best strategy is to have your own bbq, and then invite them.
The reason they didn't invite you will come up. It may be they were having a private party. But if they really just snubbed you, your invitation will make them feel all guilty, whether they accept it or not.
But maybe, if you're just sort of strangers (like a lt of neighbors are) this will help break the ice for future invitations.

I like my neighbors and I would invite them if I thought they wanted to come but I think we would find very little to actually talk to them about once they were here for a few seconds and it would just become awkward really fast.
They are really nice people, fun and nice, friendly and accomidating but they have their kinds fun and tastes we have ours. We are a little too twisted for them I think? They are good ol' simple southern folk and we are not... so I don't think it would be a great mix? Maybe that is the same kind of deal with you. Maybe they just have the good sense to know better?
I would have offered them some though

Were the rest of the street invited?
If not, why should they be obliged to invite you?
I think your neighbours should adapt the 'more the merrier' approach and be more social.
Maybe they are highly embarassed of you - u sound like a slob. No decent middle class family would want lower class slobs at their BBQ.

You know what, my neighbours are also having a BBQ right now and they didn't invite me, come to think of it they had a party last night too, they didn't invite me. I'm having a party in two weeks so perhaps I'll invite them and that will really embarrass them eh?

What you should do is have a BBQ at your place and then invite them.... The next time they have one they should invite you and if they don't then why would you want to hang out with people like that anyhow

Mainly cause you're ugly, both of you. We know who you are; yeah well we weren't invited either, but we don't care. We don't know why we weren't invited, but we know why you weren't invited; namely, cause you're ugly. That's right we are neighbours of yours.
But don't despair, you got enough answers on this crazy question to occupy you for some time and entertain you.
(Another thing that turns people back, besides your looks, is the colour or your living room, so you can do them the favour of not inviting them either -- until you repaint that living room. Ha!)

With an attitude like that, I'm not surprised they didn't invite you in the first place.

To really answer I need more details. If they invited the other people in the neighborhood and not you, then heck yeah be mad. But, maybe it is just them deciding to bbq at the last minute. I don't know.
