There is no such thing as forgiving without forgetting. To me forgiving is a way to wipe the slate clean and move on. It is hard to do with someone who repeats the same offense over and over. So the only way I have been able to forgive someone is if that person has never repeated the offense. Others, it is harder if not impossible.

To forgive means to treat that person with caring and respect no matter what they have done, just as you would treat any other human being. Its not about being all lovey dovey, its just not making it worse by doing something back worse then what was done to you to keep it going. Karma you know!!! When someone treats you bad think of it as they are helping you get rid of some of your bad karma. As to forget it ,no sometimes thats not possible, look at it ,see what you can learn from it and then picture it in a jar on a shelf in your mind and only take it down if you think you can learn something from it. Let it go! Life is too short too hold on to something that will probably hurt you more then them.

I can honestly say I can forgive a wrong, but I will never forget and not really trust the person who wronged me again.

I don't think anybody forgives or forgets anything that really matters to them. I forgive and forget trivial stuff but the big stuff lives on as a big lump of hatred in my heart and it probably will forever.

I've learned how to forgive. It's usually fairly obvious why people do the things they do. After I forgive, I can put it in a category that's harmless to me. It seems that forgiveness is for both the forgiver and the forgivee. Resentments serve no purpose except to eat away at you. There is no pay-off for keeping them.

It is a biblical idea to forgive and some people try to forgive, but to forget is not human.
Pain is always remembered.
