Can you use your card at merchants just displaying the Visa or Mastercard stickers or should you look for the Visa Electron logos or Mastercard Electronic stickers? In the US, I was able to use my VISA Electron card even if most merchants only displayed the VISA sign.

I know that in Asia, VISA Electron is accepted, not so sure about Mastercard Electronic, never heard of that.

However, in Europe, the preferred card is Mastercard (NOT the electronic one). VISA Electron is accepted in some places in Europe, not everywhere.

Of course! But you need to look out for mastercard electronic and visa electron sticker. As these cards run on electronic terminals, it cannot be used for internet/phone/mail purchase. However, before purchasing the product, do ask the cashier whether they can accept this even though they do not display the stickers.Always make a point to ask first before commiting yourself.
