I had an amazing weekend with a man I knew in college. We were very good friends and got together recently after 5-6 years of not seeing eachother. I emailed him the day I got home and admitted that I cried when I left him and basically was a gushy mess. I havent heard from him. can I recover from this or did I just freak him out completely? Now I'm kinda embarrased and I might just not call him. He did go completely out of his way to see me and we did have alot of fun. yikes. what should I do now?

relax...he may have not even opened his mail yet. and if you know that he has give him some time to process it. Don't call or write, he'll think you're desperate or neurotic. Try to move on and just let things happen. If you don't hear from him in a few weeks you may want to drop him a simple e-mail and apologize for being so emotional, that you're better now, enjoyed your visit and would like to think that you two are still friends. Ask if he's done anything fun and or exciting lately. and if he replies and mentions a new girl that would be a clue. If no reply, drop it. If a reply and no mention of another girl then don't press it, just play it low key and let things build gradually.
Then a little later, like a month or more, if a really cool event like a big concert or ballgame that "he'd" like, is coming to your area, tell him that "you" were thinking of going but didn't want to go alone and wanted to know if he'd like to come along. You should be prepared to pay for two tickets if he says yes, though he'll probably pay for his share or the meal and drive.
Don't give up hope, but be real, it has been a long time. Remember, good things come to those who wait;-)

How often have the two of you spoken within the 5-6 yrs? What was the extent of the conversation during your face to face time together?

If it was mearly on the friendship level. Yes dear you played yourself. However, if it was mutual romantic interest in one another this may be the beginning of a beautiful thing. Don't do all the work and spill everything up front. Make sure he does some front work on his end. A good way to see how interested he is in you see how long it takes the two of you to see one another again put the ball in his court though. You put yourself out there though, so wait for him to contact you via telephone. It may be ok to send him an email in a few weeks just to touch base if you have not heard from him. Make sure it is only ONE email though if you don't hear from him.

Ouch. From what you've shared here, yes, it does sound like he may be a bit freaked out right now. As for what to do now, it sounds like calling him would not be a good idea. The ball--"gushy mess" that it is--is in his court.

If he does get back in touch, it may be worth briefly (and breezily) acknowledging what you said. "Hey, I'm sorry I overreacted the other day. I just wanted you to know it was great to see you again" and then move the conversation on if possible.

Neither of you are the same persons you were 6 years ago. There are probably things in his recent history you aren't aware of. What made you think that he would have even be receptive to that, or that it is even relevant? This was a "first date," and you basically fell all over yourself running at him. So, you probably did "freak him out completely."

Go ahead and call him, but keep it light and friendly. One call a week would probably be more than enough. Make yourself available, and show your interest, but leave the intensity in your pocket.

Good luck.

How long has it been since you've heard from him?

And you might want to call him and kinda let him know that it wasn't a BAD crying mess that you were in.

He's probably dealing with some of the same issues, just go ahead and call

You had the decency to be honest. He did not use you. There is no need for you to move on. I think you will be fine and hear back from him again soon. Guys love this kind of romantic compliment. Don't worry about it. If nothing else, you are honest and did not play any mind games with him. Take pride in this at least.

It's good that you had a good time with him. Perhaps he feels like you do but doesn't want to appear so eager. Sometimes guys like to sit back a little bit and ponder what just happened. Lots of times women do like you did and spilled their guts. After the guy thinks about it he might realize that he feels like you do, and will contact you. Good Luck

Wait a few days. If no phone call, give him a ring and tell him what a good time you had. Give him an opportunity to be a man.

Alright. Do not jump to conclusions. There have been times I emailed people or left messages on their phone and did not receive a response. I assume they hated me, but later found out they were on vacation and not checking their messages.

You need to clarify his feelings for you. He might not be "that into you". Then again, he might be. You need to contact him again.
