'Waiting to Get Blown Up'
Some Troops in Baghdad Express Frustration With the War and Their Mission

By Joshua Partlow
Washington Post.
Thursday, July 29, 2006;

BAGHDAD, July 29 Army Staff Sgt. Jose Sixtos considered the simple question about morale for more than an hour. But not until his convoy of armored Humvees had finally rumbled back into the Baghdad military base, and the soldiers emptied the ammunition from their machine guns, and passed off the bomb-detecting robot to another patrol, did he turn around in his seat and give his answer.

"Think of what you hate most about your job. Then think of doing what you hate most for five straight hours, every single day, sometimes twice a day, in 120-degree heat," he said. "Then ask how morale is."

Capt. Mike Comstock says the war is not worth the lives of USA soldiers. We are not going to win and we are fighting for nothing. The troops over here know this and we want to go home. The war is based on lies.

Yes these soldiers are telling the truth...they are the ones who have to live it everyday till their deployment is overwith.

My husband is on his 6th deployment overseas.

If you do not believe the troops then you enlist in the service and go over there and find out for yourself.

I believe our troops before I believe the media...it is time to pack up and bring these troops home.

The Commoners are nothing to the Elite. Just cannonfodder. The Beatle in his song about Working Class Hero is so true. John Lennon knew precisely what life was all about. Go to these sights.......www.courage to resist.org indybay.org thankyoult.radicaldesigns.org It was reported that last year the suicide rate had increased by 30%, now this year it has increased 70%. Look at all the soldiers that are locked in and had expected some peace and R&R. Rumsfeld say's they must stay another 6 months. Those of you that feel that they shouldn't mind not having proper gear, food, water and protective Humvees. That they should be happy doing multiple tours for a war that should have never been, all for not. They joined voluntarily yes, but that was to protect are land. There were no Arabs that attacked the World Trade Center............It really was an inside job all orchestrated long long before 9/11 took place. The Zionists love the fact that they are able to irradicate the Arab people around the world. Everyone involved have their own agenda's. Some for oil profits, some to take the Temple Mount, some to see their Messiah finally come, those who feel that Jesus will return and last but not least those that yearn for Global Dominance.....see the plan is to irradicate 80% of the World population. We will be thrown back into the Dark Ages if these true fanatics aren't stopped. 3RD WORLD COUNTRY HERE WE COME......Remember the NEW WORLD ORDER is not NEW it is the OLD WORLD ORDER MASTERS AND SERFS.

Sent away from family and friends to some hot, dusty foreign place, forced to do a dangerous unpleasant job, who in their right mind would be happy about it? That is just human nature. Our troops have a conscience, they don't enjoy killing people and seeing their fellow soldiers wounded and killed. Those who enjoy that are the ones our troops are battling.

Anytime you have a combat situation where the enemy resembles those whom the soldiers must protect, you are going to have soldiers questioning, "How can we win this conflict?"

In Iraq the soldiers combat an elusive enemy who believes getting killed in combat is a guarantee of heavenly bliss. You cannot intimidate an enemy with that mentality.

That coupled with the fact that new combatants are coming across the border to bolster the "insurgents" makes for a very difficult and frustrating situation. I doubt the U.S. has enough manpower to seal the borders into Iraq, but that would stop the new fighters from getting in. Had the U.S. at least insisted on the UN forces taking care of the borders, I think this mess would be over by now. But the UN was not interested in helping the Iraqi people get rid of a monster who terrorized and murdered thousands of his own who dared to disagree with him. The lack of UN participation is one more source of frustration to US soldiers.

More needs to be printed by the media about the good that is coming to Iraq. The press seems to focus only on the bad and that is demoralizing. Sometimes the press sucks and this is one good instance. If the press would help by also printing the good things being done by our soldiers, the public would be more likely to back the troops, speed the end of the conflict and get our soldiers home that much quicker.

In all of the conflicts since the 1960's, the press has taken a negative attitude toward the military. It makes me wonder if communists are in control of the press and media.

The morale is gone. I have personal friends who were in Iraq and are stationed there. They have to do so many other extracirricular things like sports and music and etcetra just to feel good and yet still they have vivid imagery of things they've done.

Aside from that the amazing heat, and fighting a war which no one in the USA believes in and fighting a war in Iraq with no real backing from the people in the States makes these soldiers feel like ****. Alot of them are coming back with psychological problems, and its not uncommon.

In my opinion the war is not the lives nor the mental psysch of these troops they are fighting for a war for oil, not democracy. Its been shown, the American democracy in Iraq has already failed miserably.

My best regards to the soldiers, bring them home, they don't deserve this.

War is not an answer.

Yes. Every time you leave the wire, you run the possibility of getting blown up. It's just a matter of when and how bad.

The Soldiers, Marines, etc. here are tired. Most of us have been here for more than just one deployment. The good that has been done has been overshadowed by the insurgency, it's hard to feel good about something when the results have thus far been so dismal.

I definitely agree! I know a few soldiers of varying ranks who have been in their particular service for around 20-25 years and when I speak with them, they all tell me the same thing; Be careful around reporters, if a reporter is around and there's gun fire with the enemy don't "do anything" that could cause an uproar; much equipment is not up to snuff (imagine fighting in the desert...all that sand wreaks havoc), and the civilians (us, we the people) are being fed a lot of "misinformation", slightly skewed.

It is time for the soldiers to come home. Let the "natives" kill each other. They've been doing it forever and, apparently, don't want to change.

I'm sure there are soldiers who believe this and think this way.... and I'm sure there are soldiers who believe what they're doing is for a noble cause. Afterall, soldiers are people, not robots.
