We as the overall population of the world? Because I personally have learned from my family about values and morals. Throughout my life, all was drummed into me about values, morals, etc. Traditions are of a different nature. Some of them are good and have learning quality to them. Others are outdated and need to be refined or forgotten. Not all tradition is acceptable anymore, depending on the situation and culture of it's background. I listened and learned; even if it's been a long winding road. The basics stuck with me,,,,,,,thank GOD

Don’t be so naive. A lot of tradition is god awful garbage. I suppose you would enforce female circumcision because it is a tradition in West Africa? Tradition is for the weak. Use your own brain to decide what is right and what is wrong.

Unfortunately, tradition hasn't kept up with the times...the best example is those that take the Bible literally and live by it's teachings/rules. Instead of living in the here and now they cling to that archaic/outdated past material..."tradition". PEACE!

From what I could tell, this questioner didn't say she thought all traditons were good, simply why can't we be wise enough to LEARN from them rather than to just plunge ahead and not pay any attention to hard lessons of our forefathers, including that slavery is bad, oppression is bad, etc,.etc.
There's an old expression where I come from, it goes, "Wise men, (and women), learn from the experiences of generations past, fools have to learn for themselves."

Three thousand years of tradition and still Christianity grew with its roots stolidly in Rome claiming all the while that it was the true religion of Jerusalem.

Slavery is a 3000 year old tradition.

Are you suggesting that we enslave people?

did you ever stop to think that some traditions could be WRONG?

Wisdom comes with age....it can be passed down...but...when you fall...you must learn to pick yourself up...by what you have learned...and by what you are learning at that time in life...
